Try another genre? Liam Payne's 'Strip That Down' video is as awkward as the song.

Liam Payne will relaunch his solo career with a new single called “Stack It Up” featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. He unveiled the cover art, which finds him looking pensive against a yellow background, on social media and shared the September 18 release date. Given the inclusion of the NYC rapper, it’s a fairly safe bet that “Stack It Up” is a return to the urban-pop sound of “Strip That Down.” Which makes sense. After all, that Quavo-assisted bop cracked the top 10 in the US, UK and Australia.

Since “Strip That Down,” the One Direction superstar has flirted with a variety of genres including bro-pop (“Bedroom Floor”), EDM (“Get Low” and “Polaroid”) and even Latin music (“Familiar”). None of it has really clicked — at least in the US — and his debut EP, First Time, failed to chart. With any luck, “Stack It Up” will get things back on track. Liam’s debut album has been a long time in the making and his fans are hungry for a complete body of work. Check out his announcement below.
