M83 paired up with MTV as a part of their Supervideo series to create a big-budgeted sci-fi visual for their track “Claudia Lewis.” The series sets up indie bands like Best Coast and Cults with big-time Hollywood names and actors to create a music video. This latest one was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, star of The Help and 50/50 and daughter of director Ron Howard.

In the fantastical video, Lilly Collins (Mirror, Mirror) plays a teenager from outer space who is zapped to Earth and walks among her peers in high school. Ashley Rickards of MTV’s Awkward and Israel Broussard, last seen in The Bling Ring, also star in the mini-movie. The track’s ’80s electronic sound fits well with the nostalgic high school vibe of the clip, which features many scenes reminiscent of a John Hughes film.

It’s been two years since the release of M83’s Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, on which “Claudia Lewis” first appeared, and this Supervideo is a perfect closer to the Anthony Gonzalez‘ historic album era. Check out the video up top.
