Remember when Rihanna released her iconic single “Umbrella” and it spent a whopping seven weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, throughout the summer months in 2007? Or when the Ri-featuring Eminem hit “Love The Way You Lie” repeated the same feat in 2010? Well, those have been left in the dust now by the Barbadian beauty’s latest chart-topper, “Work,” which just crossed the eight-week mark atop the Hot 100.

In fact, of Rihanna’s 14 #1 singles, only her 2011 Calvin Harris collaboration “We Found Love” spent a longer time at the top of the main singles chart: 10 weeks. “Work” only needs to hang on for two more weeks to match that run.

Also noteworthy with “Work” is the fact that the song now gives Rihanna a total of 59 weeks spent at #1 in the US with her string of chart-topping singles. This ties her with The Beatles for artists who have spent the second-longest stretch in the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Mariah Carey has them both beat with 79 total weeks at the top with her 18 #1s.

Will RiRi outdo herself with “Work” when all is said and done? And do you think the Drake-featuring track is a worthy feather in Rihanna’s cap of hit singles?
