Supergroup: Sia, Diplo & Labrinth Kickstart Their LSD Project With “Genius”
There is a new supergroup hitting the music scene! Earlier this week, Diplo revealed that he was teaming up with Sia and Labrinth on a mysterious project called LSD. Although it seemed they were simply uniting on a standalone single, it turns out the hitmakers are launching a new side project. The title is a reference to the first letters of their names, and they have plans to take over the charts with their combined might. Today (May 3), they rolled out their debut single “Genius” and offered a first taste of their forthcoming project. It should come as no surprise that the trio have a searing hit on their hands.
In a post on Instagram, Diplo said the single sounds like “epic random amazing pop music from outer space” and he is not wrong. Over a fierce production Sia and Labrinth deliver pop perfection. “Oh my god, baby baby don’t you see, I got everything you need. Only a genius will love a woman like she,” the “Chandelier” icon proclaims on the sing-along chorus. It is a massive moment that is bound to be stuck in your ear after a single listen. The group brought the single to life with an animated video, which seems inspired by the producer’s reference to outer space. Bursting with color and an outrageously unexpected plot, it is a must-see.
LSD is off to a strong start, and they mean to keep the music coming. The trio has another new song called “Audio” ready to drop next week, and an album’s worth of material is on the way. Clearly, the group has strong chemistry, and it is nice to see them working together on such an exciting new project.
