Did Adele Just Tease Her Next Album ’25′?

Ladies and gentlemen, it would appear Adele has just teased her next album. Based on a tweet last night (May 4), her third LP may be called 25 and due for a release later this year. All this insight comes from a selfie, so selfies aren’t an entirely terrible phenomenon after all!

The British singer today celebrates her 26th birthday, and to mark the occasion she posted a photo on Twitter with the caption, “Bye bye 25… See you again later in the year.” The uninitiated (are there any left??) may wonder “what on Earth does that mean, ‘see 25 again?’” Well, it would imply 25 is the project’s title, which would follow her first two albums 19 and 21, both of which were named after her age at the time they were made.

OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out” Sounds Like Kanye’s “Love Lockdown” & Adele’s “Rumour Has It”: Listen

Durable, Ryan Tedder-led pop outfit OneRepublic surprised fans today by re-releasing their third LP Native, which comes repacked with a few new tracks — chief among them: new single “Love Runs Out,” “Life In Color” and the Alesso vs. OneRepublic Remix of “If I Lose Myself.”

Last week a short snippet was made available for “Love Runs Out,” a song Tedder had apparently been kicking around for awhile, but ultimately discarded before the original version of Native was released last year, because the chorus didn’t come together just right. The tune now has said chorus, and, to be honest, it sounds mighty similar to that of Kanye West‘s 808s & Heartbreak smash “Love Lockdown.” Another past hit single “Love Runs Out” is reminiscent of: Adele‘s “Rumour Has It”…though, we’ll give Tedder a pass on that since he produced and co-wrote it. (There’s also the whole ’70s-era Rolling Stones rock & soul vibe that everyone seems to be jumping all over these days, but I digress.)

Compare OneRepublic’s new song to Kanye’s “Love Lockdown” and Adele’s “Rumour Has It” below, and see if your love for the band is locked down or just plain running out. More »

Adele & Phil Collins Are Writing Songs Together

Phil Collins revealed to Inside South Florida that he has started writing new music with Adele. “She contacted me to write together,” he said. “I wasn’t actually too aware [of her]; I live in a cave. But she’s achieved an incredible amount, and I really love her voice, and I love some of the stuff that she’s done.”

Collins didn’t specify whether these new songs are for Adele’s third album (aka the follow-up to 2011′s juggernaut 21). Host Dave Aizer had quite a bit to cover, from Collins’ charity Little Dreams Foundation to the Miami Heat’s use of Genesis‘ “In the Air Tonight” and his primary sources for new music — his children. Because Aizer asked, Collins did admit that he isn’t familiar with twerking but is familiar with Miley Cyrus. (See the chat after the jump.) More »

Grammys 2014: Who Will Win Best Song Written For Visual Media?

Music At The Movies
This award has been around since 1988 (when it was called the Grammy Award for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture Or Television) but its name has been changed more than a couple of times to keep up with technology and the changing times. And wouldn’t you know it? This year a song from a visual medium (other than TV or film) is finally nominated! OK, some might call streaming a show through Netflix television, but it is technically an Internet show since Netfilx isn’t a TV network…yet. That being said — and boring Grammy history lesson aside — the remaining five nominees in the category are from traditional motion pictures.

Now back to business: Are you ready for a room full of grandmas? Wait, that’s something else. This is the Grammys, a gathering of musical talents that stretches far beyond the tunes that are solely intended for the nanas and meemaws of the world. Movies, television—and all visual media—wouldn’t be complete without their music, so we’re looking at the songs written specifically for theses channels, and breaking them down to deduce which are the best of bunch. Adele’s ’21′ Becomes First Album To Sell 3 Million Digital Copies

Adele‘s 2011 juggernaut 21 was the highest-selling album of that year and of 2012, the first time an album topped sales in consecutive years. 21 also recently became Amazon’s best-selling album of all time. And now it has reached another landmark, becoming the first album to eclipse three million digital sales. (Sure, it’s a completely arbitrary sales mark, but aren’t they all?)

A representative from Nielsen SoundScan confirmed to Rolling Stone that the diamond-certified LP reached the milestone, just a few weeks before it turns two. More »
