Ozzy Osbourne Would “Die A Happy Man” If He Could Work With Adele: Morning Mix

Did You Hear?

:: Ozzy Osbourne is the latest to hop on to the Adele crazy train love train. When asked about a possible collaboration with the songstress, Ozzy said he’d “die a happy man” if it were to happen. “She’s not fucking botox-faced,” he continued, “she’s a normal, healthy girl who speaks in her native accent.” Guess Ozzy likes it when she says “fank you,” too. [Rip It Up]

:: Noted conservative talking head and clueless music critic Rush Limbaugh is taking shots at Beyonce’s new song. He is slamming Bey for writing lyrics that encourage women to “bow down” to men, saying she’s done a complete 180 from the empowering songs of Destiny’s Child. Let this be a lesson to any aspiring music writers out there: before critiquing a song, it’s always good to actually listen to it first. [The Boombox]

:: He writes songs, he plays guitar, and he likes kids? Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff is a catch! Antonoff wrote the material for PBS’s children’s show Super WHY! The territory is not new for the Grammy-winner, who has also written material for Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba! and played on the live tour. Lena Dunham is a lucky lady. [Rolling Stone]

:: Matthew Morrison, a.k.a. Mr. Schue of Glee fame, is recording an album of Broadway classics in June. The record will be released on Adam Levine’s label 222 Records. [Billboard]

Pusha T Would Love To Collaborate With Adele

Have you ever thought that Adele‘s soulful, smoky croon would sound great over a Kanye West beat (preferably in the style of pre-808s Ye)? Well you’re not the only one. Pusha T sat down with MTV Hive, and when asked about dream collaborations “if connections and money were no object,” the G.O.O.D. Music MC settled on three names: Jay-Z, Andre 3000 and Adele. Obviously, we at Idolator were most taken by the prospect of hearing Adele on a hip-hop track. (Yes, we know she can be heard on Tyga‘s “Reminded,” but it’s a pitch-shifted sample of “Someone Like You,” so that doesn’t count.) More »

Morning Mix: Was Demi Lovato Being Shady About Taylor Swift & Selena Gomez?

:: Demi Lovato knows how to throw some serious shade. In a recent radio interview, Demi said, “A lot of celebrities don’t open up to their fans, they don’t really tell them things that can benefit their lives, they just, you know, maybe flaunt around a boyfriend and sell a couple of albums. That’s not what my career is about.” Is someone still upset over the Selena Gomez/Taylor Swift sisterhood. [AOL Music]

:: Is Adele heading Stateside? The singer is rumored to be looking at houses in Beverly Hills with boyfriend Simon Konecki and newborn Angelo. [Huffington Post]

:: It’s entirely possible that your dreams (and ours) are coming true: Paris Hilton recently wrapped a music video shoot with Lil Wayne, Birdman, Nicki Minaj and Christina Milian. Now let’s hope its actually for her new music. [Twitter]

:: Knock knock. It’s Britney, bitch! Danja (who produced “Gimme More” and “Break the Ice”) and Britney Spears might be back in the studio — since Britney has reportedly been working on new music, and his tweets hint at new material, suggesting the superstar could be returning to center stage this year. [Twitter]

:: Deadmau5 believes label bosses can make EDM, too! Speaking at SXSW, the DJ said, “The songs sound the same, I’m surprised the record companies that sign these people aren’t just going home and making the music themselves.” Sounds like he’s getting tired of the overpopularized genre. (We are too, bro.) [NME]

Adele Being Eyed To Do The Next James Bond Theme: Morning Mix

Did You Hear?

:: While Adele just won Best Original Song at the Oscars for her 007 theme “Skyfall,” it seems as though she’s back on the Bond wagon. Apparently the producers were “thrilled” with Adele’s successful song and want her to sign on for the next film’s theme as well, hoping to make her as “synonymous with Bond as Dame Shirley (Bassey).” [The Sun]

:: Rihanna’s Unapologetic single “Pour It Up” has proved to be a hit in the clubs, but now Rih is taking it a step further. The Roc Nation singer is looking to release a massive remix of the track with some of hip-hop’s heavy hitters, including: Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, T.I. and Juicy J. That’s quite a lineup! [Miss Info]

:: Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole were rumored to be working together on a collaborative project; then we heard nothing more about it. Well, it’s officially happening, as the new school rappers already have “too many songs,” and according to J. Cole, it’s getting “mad competitive.” [MTV News]

:: M.I.A. may have an album titled MATANGI dropping soon, but for Paris’ Kenzo Fashion Show, the eclectic artist’s music was featured and called the MATANGI mix. Miss Maya went and dropped the mixtape on its own website, and it’s pure fire. [Pitchfork]

Whatcha Say: The Oscars, Joan Rivers & Justin Bieber’s Weird Outfits Got Readers Talking

For an award show about movies, Sunday’s broadcast of the Academy Awards sure felt more like an ode to music this year–and it basically was! The long, long event was mercifully broken up by some truly showstopping performances in celebration of musicals, including performances by Barbra Streisand and Jennifer Hudson. But there were two performers that got you guys talking the most: Shirley Bassey and Adele.

Adele didn’t just make headlines at the Oscars — she also caught some flack from the always outspoken shock queen herself, Joan Rivers, which got you guys just a little riled up. And finally, Justin Bieber‘s curious sartorial choices as of late got you guys quipping like crazy on Facebook. But don’t worry — he’s probably too busy partying it up tonight for his birthday to notice. More »

Joan Rivers Made Fun Of Adele’s Weight On ‘Letterman’: Did She Cross The Line?

Look, we love Joan Rivers around these parts. She’s a national treasure, and she’s an old pro when it comes to crossing the line. In fact, she’s one of the best at making distasteful jokes. So when she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman Tuesday night (February 26), in her post-Oscars celebrity-skewering wheelhouse, we knew things might get ugly. But, like, in a good way. Alas, Joanie decided to roll off a string of fat jokes about Adele. Didn’t she learn from the Melissa McCarthy “hippo” debacle?

All comedians know, if you’re gonna do the fat joke in this day and age, you better do it in a novel way. Joan Rivers did not do it in a novel way last night: “What is her song? ‘Rolling in the Deep’? She should add fried chicken.” You can just picture the drummer awaiting his cue for the rimshot. That was followed by, “She said, ‘My throat, my throat, I don’t know if I can swallow.’ And I said, ‘Oh, you can swallow.’” Comedy? Watch it below. More »

Oscars: Adele Is Adorable Even When She’s Talking About Conquering The World With An EGOT

With her Oscar win for “Skyfall” last night (February 24), Adele is halfway to Hollywood’s holy grail, that ever-elusive EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). It was the first thing that came to our minds after her win, and apparently it was one of the first things on Adele’s mind as well. Billboard reports that during her press conference after nabbing Best Original Song, Adele said, “Maybe I’ll do an HBO special like Beyonce did…And a Tony, I’m not so sure. Maybe someday I’ll do a musical.” More »

Adele’s “Skyfall” Performance At The Oscars: Review Revue

Did The Critics Find Adele's Performance Oscar-Worthy?
Professional awards magnet Adele can now add an Oscar to her growing collection, after her win at last night’s Academy Awards for her James Bond theme “Skyfall.” And, believe it or not, this is the first time a 007 tune has won in the Best Original Song category!

At any rate, Adele also performed at the ceremony. Some critics were a bit nonplussed over the vocal mix, citing the fact that the London songstress’ pipes were drowned out by the orchestra. Still, most were in agreement that the singer herself brought her A game to the Academy’s big night. See our roundup of what the Internet had to say about Adele’s performance of “Skyfall” below. Oscars 2013: Adele Performs James Bond Theme “Skyfall,” Wins Best Original Song

Adele Skyfall "Oscars" 2013
The Sky Is Falling & We Love It
“Please welcome the unstoppable Adele,” actress Jennifer Lawrence said — and that introduction was apt. Backed by a string section and dozens of backup singers, Adele’s debut performance of “Skyfall” reestablished why the James Bond theme was nominated for Best Original Song.

Just two days prior at rehearsal, the British singer commented that the Dolby Theatre “might need to get a new reverb machine.” Prior to her performance, the Academy paid tribute to 50 years of James Bond films with a scenes montage and a show-stopping set by Shirley Bassey, the woman responsible for the franchise’s founding themes. But as “Skyfall” slowly built to a crescendo, Adele appeared completely calm and collected as she exercised remarkable control of every smoldering note. More »

Oscars 2013: Adele Makes Her Red Carpet Entrance

Finally the 2013 Academy Awards red carpet arrival that the pop faithful actually care about: Adele! The Oscar-nominated siren made her grand entrance at the Dolby Theater (anybody else nostalgic for the days when we said “Kodak Theater” though?) looking flawless in her black Burberry gown.

With every hair (and every false eyelash) perfectly in place, we have to admit we don’t mind one bit that the Brit returned to her signature awards-show color, black — especially after the vintage red dress she wore to the Grammys that had fans divided.  More »
