Rosie O'Donnell's variety show: “'Liza Minnelli will be on the show,' Ms. O’Donnell revealed last week... Other scheduled guests include Kathy Griffin, Jane Krakowski (30 Rock), hip-hop artist Ne-Yo and singer Alanis Morissette." I mean, think about it: A Ne-Yo collab with any of those other guests (except maybe Kathy Griffin) could be gold on both a musical and comedic level. He could out-emote Alanis! Out-fabulous Liza! Out-ego Jane, if she wants to keep up her Jenna Maroney schtick! Or maybe he could even throw everyone a curveball and live out his own Night Court fantasy storyline, just to keep things synergistic. Celebrating Our Northern Neighbors' Contributions To This Country's List Of No. 1 Hits
The number of No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 by Canadians who aren't Céline Dion, Bryan Adams, or Nelly Furtado is smaller than you might think, especially since some of the aforementioned artists' songs had such deathless runs on the pop charts. (Those successes even overshadowed their own work; for example, I forgot that Adams' Sting/Rod Stewart collaboration was also a chart-topping hit.) So let's take a second to celebrate chart-topping Canadian content like Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet," which hit the Hot 100's top spot in March 1990 and was followed by, um, nothing else. (Myles' previous single, the Alanis-prototype "Love Is," actually hit No. 36 on the chart. Speaking of the former You Can't Do That On Television star, "You Oughta Know" only peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100, although it did top the Modern Rock charts from July 22 to Aug. 19, 1995.)

upcoming tours
There's something missing from your fall calendar. In all the excitement to schedule raking leaves and buying pumpkins you forgot to pencil in Alanis Morissette's upcoming tour! That's right, Alanis is back with a new album—called Flavors of Entanglement, which sounds vaguely lurid in that obnoxiously oblique Alanis Morissette kind of way—and she'll be making the rounds starting in September.

Those of you whose senses of '90s nostalgia and '00s Fergie curiosity were equally tickled when we posted Alanis Morrissette's "My Humps" cover yesterday should thank the tipster who e-mailed us an MP3 of the song last night. Yes, watching it without the video means that the satirical experience isn't as full-spectrum, but just think of the looks that will come over your friends' faces when they slowly realize just what song they're hearing. Videodrone: Alanis Morrissette Shows Off Her Lady Lumps, Comic Timing
Two things about Alanis Morrisette's cover of the Black Eyed Peas: One, somewhere, Tori Amos is hunched in front of a laptop, cursing herself for not thinking of giving this rumination on turning men into quivering, ATM-like masses the sad-piano treatment first; two, the joke probably would have worked better had this been released as a ringtone before getting the YouTube treatment. That way, even "sensitive" girls can big-up their bling-attracting powers without saying a word.
