Rihanna Crashes Chris Brown’s Ex-Girlfriend’s Party: Morning Mix

Did You Hear?

:: Rihanna was caught leaving Hollywood’s Playhouse club with a group of friends on the same night as model Karrueche Tran’s party in honor of her cover story with Rolling Out magazine. Tran is Chris Brown’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, so he was in attendance, although he made zero waves for a change. Rihanna, though, made the biggest statement by showing up… and then leaving. Drama! [New York Daily News]

:: One Direction’s young stud Zayn Malik must enjoy a little diversity — aka infidelity. Once again, the 1D singer is reported to have cheated on his Little Mix gal Perrie Edwards — this time, with an Australian waitress named Courtney Webb. [The Sun]

:: Alicia Keys released her single “BNM (Brand New Me)” at the end of last year, but now gave the hit a brand new remix. Leeshy dropped “Part 2″ of the song, using a beat sample from Cajmere’s “It’s Time For the Percolator” along with interpolating Crystal Waters’ classic “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” on the hook.  [Rap-Up]

:: Adele has kept far from mum about her feelings toward father Mark Evans, saying that she’d spit in his face if she ever saw him. Evans has tried to re-open the wound once again, now that he has a grandson that he has yet to meet. Apparently, Mark Evans has left multiple messages for Adele, asking to meet her firstborn, but he’s received no response. Doesn’t sound like Adele will be returning calls to her dad anytime soon. But last night kept the party going even harder, as Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and fun. all performed at the Inaugural Ball, which sounds like something out of The Hunger Games but was actually pretty fun! More »

Alicia Keys To Sing National Anthem At Super Bowl

Alicia Keys will kick off Super Bowl Sunday in New Orleans on February 3 by singing the National Anthem before the game, according to the AP — though the NFL has yet to confirm the report. Keys isn’t the only star performing at Super Bowl XLVII, of course, as Beyonce is performing at the halftime show, which will include a Destiny’s Child reunion for their new song “Nuclear.”

Beyonce herself sang the anthem to open Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. Could Alicia make the same jump? Well, we can picture it now: Super Bowl XLVIII, MetLife stadium right next to NYC, as Jay-Z and Alicia Keys belt out “Empire State Of Mind.” It’s gonna happen, people.

People’s Choice Awards 2013: See Christina Aguilera & Alicia Keys’ Performances, Plus Winners’ List

Alicia Keys "Girl On Fire" & "New Day" People's Choice Awards
The People Choose Alicia
Well, the people have spoken, and here are some of the things they said: “Who?” “What?” “What are we watching?” and “Honey, can you turn that off?” Yes, it was the 2013 People’s Choice Awards, easily the year’s most likably inexplicable hodgepodge of Walgreen’s ads and self-congratulatory mumblespeak, peppered with a handful of noteworthy moments (Taylor Swift looking a little sad! The Wanted being totally stunned to win over One Direction!) and a pair of solid performances from Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera.

Keys performed “Girl On Fire” and “New Day,” transitioning from a lovely piano set into a big choreographed number, while Aguilera brought out the candles and melodrama for her Sia-penned ballad “Blank Page.” Watch Keys up top, then see Aguilera’s performance and a list of the music categories’ winners after the jump. Alicia Keys Performs “Brand New Me” on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’: Watch

Alicia Keys On David Letterman Interview "Brand New Me"
This Girl Is On Letterman
Alicia Keys has been, as we say in the industry, gettin’ that promo (note: that is not a thing anybody says in “the industry”) — and her latest stop was to The Late Show With David Letterman last night, where she sat down for a charming little interview before performing her new single, the Emeli Sande-penned ballad “Brand New Me.”

And, on the subject of a brand new me, Keys was rocking a new look last night. Those stripes? That hair? It was all just on point. As usual, her performance was lovely, even if it was at the snoozier end of the spectrum. Electrify us, Keys! Watch up top.

Alicia Keys Sued For Two Seconds Of Copyright Infringement In “Girl On Fire”

Alicia Keys is being sued for copyright infringement by songwriter Earl Shuman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shuman claims Keys’ hit song “Girl On Fire” repurposes part of the song “Hey There Lonely Girl,” which he co-wrote as a remake of his original 1962 song “Lonely Boy.”

Specifically, Shuman argues that a two-second snippet of the bridge, when Keys sings “She’s a lonely girl / And it’s a lonely world,” is lifted from “Lonely Girl.” Actually, Shuman didn’t argue that, a writer for Showbiz411 argued it in a November post noting the phrasing’s similarity. So Shuman is now building his defense around that one blogger’s keen ear. Even though in that very same post, said blogger incorrectly stated Shuman was dead. More »

Alicia Keys’ “Brand New Me” Video: See The Singer, Reborn

Alicia Keys "Brand New Me" Video
A Brand New Alicia!
Alicia Keys‘ video for her new single “Brand New Me” sees the singer back where she belongs: Right at her piano! Also, strolling elegantly through various sets and stages, but not doing a whole lot else. Hey, at least she’s not on fire anymore — somebody must have found the extinguisher. She was so inspired she even decided to liberate her hair, sporting impressively voluminous curls. Get it, girl.

The Diane Martel-directed clip is another classy visual for the songstress, whose latest LP Girl On Fire topped the album chart; whether this midtempo ballad has a shot at killing radio is a different question altogether. Watch up top.
