Avril Lavigne’s “Here’s To Never Growing Up” Video: Prom & Shenanigans

Avril Lavigne's "Here's To Never Growing Up" Video
It's Not Complicated
At this point, I’m probably biased when it comes to Avril Lavigne‘s “Here’s To Never Growing Up,” which I maintain is an absolute masterclass in pop nostalgia, so I greeted the song’s video with high expectations — and the punk-pop princess didn’t disappoint.

Like the song, the video is bratty and adolescent; also like the song, it’s sort of marvelous, with a sly reference to “Complicated” that’s an absolute delight. More »

Avril Lavigne Performs “17″ Live At The Viper Room: Hear The New Song

Avril Lavigne "17" Live Viper Room
17 Again
Fact: Avril Lavigne‘s stubbornly juvenile summer anthem “Here’s To Never Growing Up” is one of the most infuriatingly catchy pop songs of the year. Another fact: Last night, the mallrat songstress took the stage at Los Angeles’ Viper Room for an intimate set, where she premiered a new song from her upcoming studio album (due out in September) that isn’t just as good as that single — it might be better! Wistful and nostalgic and gloriously emotional and why can’t it just go on forever?

In video from the performance, she introduces the new song, titled “17″ (or maybe “Seventeen” — which would be better? Probably “17,” right?) in the most quintessentially Avril way imaginable: “I wrote this song about — duh! — being seventeen. That’s pretty much it.” Oh, Avril. Never change. More »

Avril Lavigne’s New Album Set For September Release

Get Ready For New Avril, Chavril
A very, very giggly Avril Lavigne sat down with ET Canada to intermittently talk between bouts of laughter about all the impending Big Events in her life — namely, the new album and the wedding. She also joked that she was giving the show the exclusive report that she’s pregnant. To reiterate: she is not pregnant.

But amongst all the celeb interview chaff, and despite Avril’s largely nonexistent answers, ET Canada was able to report that the Chavril wedding will be in July or August, followed by her album release in September. Watch the interview up top, if you’re not blinded by her enormous fruit-shaped engagement ring (never growing up really seems to have paid off, huh?) More »

Whatcha Say: Psy, Avril And Our Boy Band Ibrawlator Got Our Readers Talking

After last week’s colossal battle between Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, this week’s Ibrawlator saw One Direction and The Wanted fans going head-to-hit out for the title of supreme supreme boy band. (Didn’t see the final result of the duel? Go look!)

Meanwhile, Selena, Avril Lavigne and Psy all dropped their new singles (perhaps they should all come together for one super collaboration? Actually, maybe not), Demi rocked out on Good Morning America, Cassie dropped her new mixtape and, not to be outdone by Bey, Taylor Swift debuted her Diet Coke commercial. See you next week — and make sure to tune into the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.

Avril Lavigne Talks All-Out Wedding On ‘Chelsea Lately’, Coaxing Chad Kroeger Into His 1st Tattoo

The Nickelback Frontman Is A Tattoo Virgin No Longer
Avril Lavigne may be putting on the front of being young at heart with new single “Here’s To Never Growing Up,” but in real life the rowdy Canadian pop singer is about to embark on the very grown-up journey of her second marriage, to Nickelback‘s Chad Kroeger. Lavigne swung by Chelsea Lately and wound up discussing the upcoming nuptials. “I’m gonna go all out this time, and there’s gonna be a theme,” she told host Chelsea Handler. “I wanna have a lot of fun with it and go kinda nuts.”

The 28-year-old also brought up the surprising fact that, when she met her future husband while recording her upcoming album, he didn’t have a single tattoo. “The second day in the studio I was like, I’m so getting you your first tattoo,” Lavigne explained. Sure enough, she and Kroeger came away from a trip to France with matching “live in the moment” ink on their arms.

Guess that’s a bit classier than the matching “f***” tattoos she and ex Brody Jenner got a few years back on their ribs? More »

Avril Lavigne’s “Here’s To Never Growing Up”: Review Revue

Good news for all you Peter Pan complexes roaming the land out there: Avril Lavigne is back, and she’s pulled a youthful, if not slightly familiar-sounding, anthem called “Here’s To Never Growing Up” out of her Abbey Dawn cap! Avril Lavigne’s “Here’s To Never Growing Up”: Listen To The New Song

Avril Lavigne is a funny artist, isn’t she? It’s tough to think of anyone in the pop game who’s changed her image less over the course of her career: While her solo pop-rock contemporaries (Kelly ClarksonP!nkAshlee Simpson) switched their sound up — shifting into dance-pop, putting ’80s synths to work, attempting sonic departures both big and small — Lavigne’s staunch refusal to be anything other than the moody, scrawny girl with eyes smudged in kohl, making the same infectious punk-lite radio pop in the same likably ridiculous Hot Topic ensembles, has been one of mainstream radio’s most comforting reliabilities.

Now, having been releasing albums for over a decade (!) and rapidly approaching the age of 30 (!), it seems like time to quit with the adolescent posturing, even just a little bit — which is part of what makes the stubborn nostalgia of her new single, “Here’s To Never Growing Up,” one of our favorite pop songs in a long time. Avril Lavigne’s “Here’s To Never Growing Up” Video: See A Sneak Peek

Here's To Avril's Fans, Refusing To Grow Up

Avril Lavigne has offered a sneak peek of her “Here’s to Never Growing Up” lyric video, out April 9. More than two weeks prior Lavigne asked Facebook followers to sign up for a cameo, and this grainy clip previews the end result — a quick run through a fan-video montage, in which a lucky few croon the lyrics to their webcams. (Blink, and you’ll miss Lavigne’s own appearance.)

Aside from her cover of Nickelback‘s “How You Remind Me,” Lavigne’s new song and fifth, still-untitled album will be her first new music since 2011′s Goodbye Lullaby. Its arrested development-celebrating title aside, “Here’s to Never Growing Up” sounds like her own version of Rihanna‘s “Cheers (Drinks to That)” — coincidentally, a song that samples Lavigne’s own “I’m With You.” Check out the lyric video preview up top, then revisit Rihanna’s “Cheers” video (featuring Lavigne herself) after the jump.
