Since many people find it hard to tell the great from the godawful when it comes to 21st-century mainstream rock, welcome to “Corporate Rock Still Sells,” where Al Shipley (a.k.a. Idolator commenter GovernmentNames) examines what’s good, bad, and ugly in the world of Billboard‘s rock charts. This time around he grades six modern rock bands looking to get their new singles added to radio playlists, both on their chances for hitting big and the relative suckiness of the songs in question.
Today’s second entry in the Bad Photoshop bracket pits Coheed And Cambria’s No World For Tomorrow against Blake Lewis’ Audio Daydream, two covers that have led to more great jokes from the comments section than perhaps any others in our tournament so far! Seriously, Trapper Keeper gags, flashbacks to the days of school photos, a K-Pax shout-out, Frank Frazetta and Double Dragon and Matt Foley references… these two monstrostities have really inspired y’all. But alas, only one may advance to the next round.
The second battle in today’s Bad Photoshop bracket pits a typically Dungeonmaster’s Guide-esque entry from prog-emo-metallers Coheed And Cambria against Southern rapper Plies getting biblical with the dry ice, because whether you’re rolling with a shawty or rolling 12-sided dice, you should at least keep your shirt on.
