Green Day are certainly good to their fans—at last night’s epic three-hour show in Irvine, the band started things off right by inviting anybody in any section of the Verizon Amphitheater to come on down to rock out in the pit. If that wasn’t generous enough, Billie Joe Armstrong let concertgoers flock onstage, had them stage-dive off of it, and the punk frontman even let a lucky fan sing the band’s hit song “Longview”—and gave the kid his guitar as a gift for remembering all the lyrics. Check out our gallery of Green Day’s most dedicated—and stylishly dressed—fans rocking out at their phenomenal live show. More »
Green Day’s three-hour, non-stop, insanely high-energy concert at the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine last night was broken up into various acts—the punk-rockers kicked off with their modern hits from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown; invited as many fans as possible to storm the stage and snap pics with them while they jammed through their older songs off of Dookie up to Warning; and ended the night with Billie Joe Armstrong turning it down a notch with an acoustic guitar for the three-song encore.
But the absolute craziest part of last night’s epic show was when the band took a break from their own material to cover almost every classic rock song in existence—”Highway To Hell”, “Baba O’Riley”, “Sweet Child Of Mine”, “Hey Jude”, “Dancing With Myself”, “Iron Man” and “California Girls” were just a few of the dozens of rock songs given the Green Day touch. Check out our gallery of the Bay Area boys giving their fans one helluva night to remember. More »
Britney Spears got the manga treatment while posing for a photo shoot with famed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for POP magazine, and now we’re treated to some more soft-lit pics of the future Glee guest star glowing in a bridal dress and exercise wear. (We just love that photo of Brit holding a cell phone, too, as it gives us a reason to listen to her demo of “Telephone” again.) Check out two inside pics and both of Brit’s POP covers in our gallery. Super kawaii! [Photos via MTV Buzzworthy and POP] More »
California gurl Katy Perry was on the East coast last night, promoting her new album on Letterman. After the taping, the singer slipped into something a bit more comfortable—a frilly, cream-colored dress—and headed back to her hotel with fiance Russell Brand. While en route to the hotel, the pop princess got a bit silly and whipped out a set of giant wax lips. Hey, at least this Cali native isn’t going for the usual collagen injections. Flip through to see the “Hot N Cold” songbird sporting a big, red kisser. More »
Brandon Flowers certainly doesn’t have to worry about his career as a solo artist—The Killers’ frontman hasn’t even released his debut solo album Flamingo yet, and he still managed to pack L.A.’s Troubadour to max capacity. After opening with new songs “On The Floor” and “Crossfire”, Flowers (who first came off as shy, yet wildly excited) accepted a bouquet of flowers from a fan in the front row before launching into a sweeping rendition of Kim Carnes’ “Bette Davis Eyes” and indulging the crowd with one Killers song, “Losing Touch.”
The singer described his solo album as being “a little bit more mellow” than The Killers, but the anthemic “Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts” sounded like it came straight off of Hot Fuss. Check out our gallery of Brandon thrilling 450 of his most die-hard fans, and go ahead and pre-order the deluxe version of Flamingo (out September 14) over here. More »
In this brand new photo shoot for iD Magazine, shot by Nick Knight (who also recently photographed Gaga for Vanity Fair), Lady Gaga keeps it relatively low-key and demure—quite a change from the rock-n-roll style and punk aesthetic she adopted for her Lollapalooza weekend, but it’s no less exciting to see. We’ve seen Katy Perry rocking a Crayola Box of fake hair recently in promotion of her delicious Teenage Dream LP—and the colors keep on flowing in Perry’s recent Phil Knott photo shoot for The Guardian. The chameleon-like pop star goes through a personality disorder in these retro photos, switching from a black-haired siren, a green-coiffed bathing beauty and a red-headed flapper. (And does anyone else think blonde Katy Perry resembles Gwen Stefani circa Tragic Kingdom, or is that just us?) Flip through our gallery of the sweet-toothed singer becoming a real life rainbow. Kylie Minogue is Australia’s premiere pop queen, so the fact that all the Aussie magazines want the Aphrodite goddess to grace their covers requires no further explanation. Ms. Minogue rocks a mod look on the cover of the 15th anniversary issue of Australian Marie Claire, and looks absolutely stunning while swinging on the front of Madison and in the subsequent black-and-white photo shoot. Besides being Oz’s magazine It Girl at the moment, Kylie has another reason to smile—her song “All The Lovers” is now the #1 song on the Billboard Dance/Club charts. Join Kylie with a celebratory “WhoooOOP!!” while flipping through our gallery of gorgeous pics. More »
At his headlining show at the O.C. Fair last night, Adam Lambert lit up the stage with his flawless voice and fabulous, theatrical wardrobe—and his audience wasn’t too shabby, either! We snapped some pics of all the Glambert fans outside the Pacific Amphitheater, and it appears Adam’s music hits pretty much every demographic: we spotted teens, tots and grown-ups of both sexes, not to mention both the modestly dressed and the flamboyantly costumed. Flip through our gallery of Lambert’s lovely fans, and find out why they love the Idol alum so much. More »
Idolator’s favorite fabulous space oddity Adam Lambert brought his Glam Nation tour to Orange County last night, leaving a trail of glitter behind him as he strutted across the stage of the Pacific Amphitheatre. The singer—who just may have one of the most flawless live singing voices we’ve ever heard—kicked off his concert with the bonus track “Voodoo” while donning a top hat emblazoned with a sparkly “A”. Adam went on to give an emotional acoustic performance of “Whataya Want From Me” and treated the screaming crowd to just one song from his Idol repertoire, his spiritual, zen rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire.” Flip through our glam Glambert gallery, which is the second best thing to experiencing his superb singing live in person.
