brought out Ja Rule
and paid tribute to Selena Quintanilla-Perez
during her June 4 homecoming concert (“The Bronx!”) at Pelham Bay Park’s Orchard Beach. She may be prepping for next week’s release of A.K.A.
, but during that concert, she was more than aware that fans rode the 6 to see her live – the same subway line referenced in her 1999 debut, On the 6
Lopez actually brought out several guests during the show: Fat Joe performed the Terror Squad‘s “Lean Back,” while French Montana assisted with A.K.A.‘s “I Luh Ya Papi.” But it was Ja Rule who inspired the loudest cheers, as he strolled on stage to perform his verses from Murder Inc‘s “Ain’t It Funny” and “I’m Real” remixes. The crowd chimed in whenever they could, seen when Lopez sang Selena’s “No Me Queda Más,” off her 1994 and fifth album Amor Prohibido.

Backtracking is our recurring look back at the pop music that shaped our lives. Our friends may come and go, but we’ll be spinning our favorite albums forever.
By 1999, Jennifer Lopez knew how it felt to face a crowd of thousands. But that crowd wasn’t hers – it belonged to Selena, the young Mexican-American star whose life was tragically cut short in 1995.
For the opening scene of the biopic Selena, released less than two years after the singer’s death, fans flooded Houston’s Astrodome to recreate the moment when Selena drew the largest crowd in the stadium’s history. And Lopez, Selena‘s star, was dedicated to her role – her most demanding yet. She smiled and waved like Selena. She nailed the choreography, too: every hip swing, step ball change and spin, with that glittery purple jumpsuit catching the light. But as this former musical theater kid and budding actress went through Selena’s motions, she realized that she wanted a singing career, too.
Jennifer’s 1999 debut On the 6 turned 15 on June 1, and the concept of the all-around entertainer is just as rare as it was back then. While actresses still try their hands in music, those records rarely hit the top of the charts. On The 6 was an exception, because of how Jennifer made that crossover effort seem both hard-earned and effortless. More »
unveiled her super chic/sexy “First Love”
video today (May 29) and raised temperatures wherever there is an internet connection with her raunchy desert antics. To celebrate the ultimate triple threat’s breathtaking visual, I’ve curated a gallery of her sexiest moments. Which wasn’t that hard given the seductive source material.
So what can you expect from “First Love”? Well, there’s J.Lo in a clingy white bodysuit for starters. That’s pretty much all you need but the diva also rocks a bunch of designer outfits and finds romance with British male model David Gandy. Trust Jenny to find the only guy with a six-pack driving through the Californian wilderness! Peruse the stunning pics up top. More »
“I knew I had to leave the world behind me to find out who I was,” exclaims Jennifer Lopez
as she wanders the Californian desert in her finest couture gown. “I knew that love would never search for me, that I would have to search for it.” And so begins the ultimate triple threat’s sexiest visual since 2011′s breathtaking “I’m Into You”
As luck would have it, Jenny’s man-hunt pays immediate dividends. She is found by British model David Gandy and love blossoms. It’s a fairly simple set-up but, in director Anthony Mandler‘s capable hands, it turns out to be an absolute feast for the eyes. The black-and-white photography is gorgeous, J.Lo has never looked better (which is truly saying something) and her co-star isn’t exactly hard on the eyes either. will embark with Jennifer Lopez
as a back-up singer on a six-date tour this summer, including stops for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
and Good Morning America
. “I have to pinch myself a little bit that I am in the same room with her now,” Toscano
, a favorite from American Idol
‘s Season 10, said to The Hollywood Reporter
, following a rehearsal with Lopez herself.
Toscano recently backed J. Lo in an Idol performance of “I Luh Ya Papi,” alongside past contestants Jessica Sanchez and Allison Iraheta. And she’s excited to continue learning from the Season 13 judge. “[W]e don’t think we realized getting into it what it takes to become a superstar like Jennifer Lopez,” she says. “I was just watching her in rehearsal just now and she is performing like she is doing a concert.”

will debut her “First Love”
video on Entertainment Tonight
this evening (May 27) but kindly whet our appetite with a preview via Instagram. The black-and-white video finds Jenny getting hot and heavy with male model David Gandy
as well as generally hanging around and looking gorgeous. I’m already sold.
Produced by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin, “First Love” has all the makings of a summer smash — an infectious chorus, uplifting lyrics and bubbly synths. All it needs is some radio love (the single just entered the top 40 on pop airplay) and a killer video. Given her track record, it’s pretty safe bet that Jennifer will deliver on the latter. By now, you’ve surely read the news that Asheville, North Carolina, native Caleb Johnson was crowned winner
of American Idol
‘s 13th season. The top two finalists, Caleb and Jena Irene
, had a good, old-fashioned sing-off Tuesday night
with the results of America’s final vote announced last night (May 21).
In addition to learning the identity of the winner, the episode was packed with songs from guest performers including Jennifer Nettles, Phillip Phillips, Kiss, Aloe Blacc, Demi Lovato, Paramore, John Legend, Jason Mraz, Richard Marx, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum. Not to be left out, judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban also got on stage to perform together. Former host and mentor, Randy Jackson also joined in on the fun. Heck, host Ryan Seacrest even did his best to sing a tune. More »
claims that her “First Love”
video shoot was the hardest she’s done in her career.
“It was like the apocalypse,” she recently said on iHeartRadio. “It was like purgatory. I was waiting for frogs to fall out of the sky. It was a wind storm. Literally, it felt like we were in the middle of a tornado. There was this much dust on my face. We looked like we were covered up on soot. And it was freezing. And of course, you know, in the video I’m not wearing all that much.”
In a black-and-white snapshot from that same shoot (above), almost none of this appears to be true. More »
The buildup of an entire season has led us all to this week, with the remaining two contestants, Caleb Johnson
and Jena Irene
duking it out in a final round of songs live from Los Angeles. On Tuesday night (May 20), each kid is tasked with singing three songs. The first is a selection from American Idol
creator Simon Fuller
. The second is the contestant’s choice, with Jena and Caleb selecting their favorite song from a previous performance.
For the occasion, host Ryan Seacrest is decked out in a white tuxedo jacket, black bow tie and pants. The two finalists emerge onto the stage, each looking very much like rock stars. The judges, not to be outdone, are also looking fabulous with Jennifer Lopez in a leather and sparkle dress and her hair done up like Brigitte Bardot in her heyday. Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. are looking fancy in jackets and big smiles.
We get a flashback clip of Jena asking Caleb to prom. This prompts Idol to film a throwback prom vignette. Despite myself, I find it quite cute. I hope they actually do go to prom together. More »
