The Black Keys Talk Twitter Spat With “Irresponsible Asshole” Justin Bieber

Patrick Carney, drummer of The Black Keys, calls Justin Bieber out in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. “Justin Bieber, like a fucking irresponsible asshole, sicced 40 million Twitter followers on me because I paid him a compliment he didn’t understand,” he says.

Carney was talking about how in February 2013, TMZ stopped him to ask about the Grammys. The Black Keys just won three awards, including Best Rock Album for El Camino, so naturally the outlet asks whether Bieber should feel snubbed for not scoring a nomination. “Grammys are for music, not for money, and he’s making a lot of money. He should be happy,” Carney said.

Bieber then joked on Twitter that Carney should be “slapped around,” which didn’t sit well with him even after turning his own profile into a parody account. “I’m saying that he should be grateful that he has a fucking career in music. And he shouldn’t be fucking telling his followers to slap me, and then also be doing anti-bullying bullshit. It’s so irresponsible,” Carney said. (The pop star has 51.5 million followers, nearly ten times as much as The Black Keys.) More »

Avril Lavigne’s “Hello Kitty” Gets Positive Reviews In Japan: Morning Mix

Did You Hear?

:: While Western outlets criticized Avril Lavigne‘s “Hello Kitty” video for being “Japan fetishization,” Lavigne’s Japanese audience responded positively. “The people who are blaming the artist for racism are non-Japanese,” a social media expert says. [Billboard]

:: Katy Perry, Weird Al Yankovic and Tyler, the Creator all cover the same 1892 song for The Gay Nineties Old Tyme Music: Daisy Bell. The record was put together by Mark Ryden, the artist behind Tyler’s Wolf album artwork and a similarly surreal portrait of Perry, titled “Katy Aphrodite.” [THR]

Justin Bieber Teases Ariana Grande Duet With Photo Of The Pair In Studio

The Justin Bieber studio carousel/cyclone of destruction spins ceaselessly, this time sweeping Ariana Grande up into its spiral. Last night (May 1), while some of his pop colleagues were at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Bieber was at home twiddling away on his social meats (which was seriously such a better use of time), and posted a photo of himself in the studio with of-the-moment diva-in-training Grande. “Congrats @arianagrande on your number 1 song,” he wrote, throwing in a major teaser by signing off with “#arianabieberduet ??”

While fans of the doe-eyed “Problem” singer may cringe at the prospect of her linking up with grizzled old Biebs, it’s pretty clear a collab between the two has potential to be killer. And since Grande has already collaborated with Chris Brown, this is actually the first time Bieber could be presented as The Sensible Alternative.

Naya Rivera Has Been Dumped By Columbia Records: Morning Mix

Did You Hear?

Beyonce Takes You Behind The Scenes Of “Pretty Hurts” Video: Morning Mix

Behind Bey's Pageantry
Did You Hear?

:: DJ Snake and Lil Jon nabbed Juicy J, 2 Chainz and French Montana for a posse cut remix of their surprise smash “Turn Down for What.” The line-up is (mostly) fitting – the song’s named after a saying Lil Jon would hear while still based in Atlanta. [Complex]

:: Ricky Martin kicks off the April 28 episode of Dancing With The Stars with a performance of his 2014 World Cup anthem, “Vida.” He will also appear as a guest judge. [ABC]

:: Katy Perry chatted with The Breakfast Club to talk the surprise crossover appeal of “Dark Horse.” What may be more surprising, though, is how she calls Drake “soft” and host Charlamagne Tha God starts singing “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” to greet her. It’s all bonkers. [Power 105.1]

:: Is Justin Bieber guilty of egging his neighbor’s home, amounting to $20,000 in damages? A recently surfaced police affidavit only knows for certain that a “white male” is responsible, but then refers to the culprit throughout as “Suspect Bieber.” Hmm. [MTV]

Justin Bieber Debuts Surprise R&B Ballad “Hard2FaceReality”: Listen

Justin Bieber debuted a new song, “Hard2FaceReality,” April 26 on SoundCloud. In the ’90s-inspired R&B ballad, he and singer Poo Bear exchange wounded verses of a long-distance relationship, slowly falling apart. “Relationships over the phone, talking to your significant other all night long,” Bieber sings in the first verse.

“Hard2FaceReality” was posted to Bieber’s new SoundCloud profile, “sirbizzle.” Earlier this year, the pop star temporarily switched his Instagram handle to “bizzle,” before U.K. rapper Lethal Bizzle protested (“I guess he realized there’s only one Bizzle after all,” he said). The attempted name change, in addition to his new material, makes clear that Bieber’s trying to transition out of teen-pop status as he was in his 2013 digital-download LP Journals.

Justin Bieber Crashed Drake Bell’s Album Release Party And Then Dragged Him On Instagram

For someone with an increasingly battered reputation, Justin Bieber usually keeps it cute on social media. Which makes last night’s (April 17) outburst against Drake Bell all the more memorable. Sick of constant Twitter jabs from the former Drake & Josh actor, the “Confident” singer crashed his nemesis’ album release party and then documented it on Instagram.

As far as beefs go, this one is actually pretty funny. Justin pulled up outside Mixology at The Grove in Los Angeles — the venue where Drake was holding his party — and basically stole his thunder. (Not to mention the attention of his overwhelmed fans). To rub it in, Selena Gomez‘ on-again/off-again boyfriend then posted a pic of the 27-year-old peering over the balcony to find out what was going on with the caption: “Why is @justinbieber sprinter van getting more attention than my album release party.”

Justin quickly deleted the post but uploaded a video of the frankly hilarious incident with the smug comment: “So nice seeing my fans at the grove tonight.” It might sound like overkill but Drake has been baiting the troubled star for a while now with tweets about his (allegedly) fake followers and lack of talent. See Biebs’ deleted Instagram post, subsequent video and his enemy’s response. More »

Selena Gomez Has A Justin Bieber-Referencing Song/Video On The Way According To Ryan Seacrest

Selena Gomez has been unusually quiet on the music front since “Slow Down” was sent to radio in August 2013. The shimmery pop perfection that is Stars Dance never got a third single despite selling well and rumors began to swirl that the 21-year-old was shopping for new management and even a new label. (The former turned out to be true, there’s still no word on the latter).

Given all these developments, fans were happily surprised when Ryan Seacrest revealed that Sel has a new song/video on the way in a recent radio segment about Kim Kardashian‘s wedding. “I saw Selena the other night and she’s got a big new song coming out and a really cool video,” he said. But here’s where it gets really interesting. “The video will get people  talking about whether or not it’s about she and Justin [Bieber]“.

Could this be a belated Stars Dance single or the lead single from Selena’s next LP? Ryan doesn’t mention Justin singing on the song, so it’s probably not their long hoped-for duet. Listen to the radio mogul spill the beans about the diva’s next move after the jump. He starts talking about Sel at the 2:35 minute mark. More »
