Vocal mad scientist Mike Patton will lend his… More »
Kitchen-sink rock outfit Faith No More is reuniting for a summer tour, according to Mike Patton‘s publicist—although the catch, because there has to be one, is that the band will only tour Europe, and that there are absolutely no plans to tour the States. Rumor has it, also, that former guitarist and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey cameo-er Jim Martin won’t be taking part in it, having left the band in 1993. Since Patton has refused to give interviews about the tour the veracity of those statements won’t be proven until someone makes the bright idea to ask Merge Records’ PR department for an interview with Imperial Teen’s Roddy Bottum, who was FNM’s keyboardist until the band split some 11 years ago. As the music-obsessive enclaves of the Internet wait for the allegedly forthcoming announcement of the lineup for Coachella—and the festival’s employees post coy messages to Twitter that will only fan the message-board flames—one persistent reunion rumor has been debunked: Faith No More, sadly, will not be getting back together under the desert moonlight. But all is not lost for fans of former lead singer/constant vocal experimenter Mike Patton who have the urge to sweat: Patton is scheduled to play a set with the beatboxer Rahzel, according to Billboard. The two apparently have a long-in-the-works album languishing in a vault somewhere, and Rahzel was one of the many artists who helped out with Patton’s Peeping Tom project a couple of years back. Since there’s absolute naught happening in the world of Radio Disney news and the daily Lil Wayne guest verse has yet to leak, I’ve decided to spend the rest of Friday posting whatever wondrous oddness I can find collecting in the drain traps and mildewed grout of the Internet. More »
