U2 Apologize (Kind Of) For Surprise ‘Songs Of Innocence’ Release: Morning Mix

:: Remember that horrible time when U2 added their new album, Songs Of Innocence, to our iCloud accounts? Well now they are finally apologizing…kind of. The band’s frontman, Bono, addressed the fiasco during a Facebook Q&A session: “Oops. I’m sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea and we got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard. There’s a lot of noise out there. I guess we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.” [Pitchfork]

:: Tyga spoke with our friends over at Vibe magazine about his experience working with Kanye West on his forthcoming album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty. The Young Money rapper stated, “He just told me to come to the studio one day and just gave me and Big Sean this long speech. He was just saying what it is, and what we need to do as young artists and how we just need to take control of this shit. :: Courtney Love is always reliable for fun musical drama! She is now claiming that Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan wrote a number of songs about her. When the band’s frontman “stopped writing about me, he stopped having hits.” Whatever you say, Court! [Billboard]

:: There’s some good news for XXL magazine! The publication announced it will not be ending its print edition after all. They plan to release another issue by year’s end. The news comes after Harris Publications sold XXL to digital-based Townsquare Media. [MTV]

The former Spice Girl told Radio Times the singer needs to have more dignity: “My five-year-old loves Rihanna. But she has no idea what her idol looks like because there’s little footage that I’m happy for her to see. :: Ariana Grande has confirmed her relationship with Big Sean. The mini-diva spoke with The Telegraph about dating the rapper, stating “He is one of the most amazing men in the whole world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother. I think the world of him, and he’s an amazing person. That’s kind of all there is to it.” How sweet! The two were rumored to be a couple since the 2014 VMAs in August, and Big Sean even appears on My Everything‘s “Best Mistake.” They previously collaborated on 2013′s “Right There,” and he’s also featured on “Problem.” [Miss Info]

:: Speaking of Grande, she has been receiving a lot of flack for allegedly being a stuck-up diva, but “Bang Bang” collaborator Jessie J is stepping up to her defense. The Sweet Talker stated, “I’ve met Ariana, and there’s a very thin line between ‘diva’ and ‘survival.’ And a lot of people can’t [differentiate that] — and I’ve had that. I’ve had the diva stuff. :: There’s no doubt that Ed Sheeran is currently one of pop’s biggest stars. But the UK crooner did not always have it so easy before he made it big. He revealed in his new book A Visual Journey that he spent two-and-a-half years homeless on the London streets.
