medium_nin1medTrent Reznor stands up and says “web 2.no,” thanks to anonymous harassment on the microblogging service Twitter: “I will be tuning out of the social networking sites because at the end of the day it’s now doing more harm than good in the bigger picture and the experiment seems to have yielded a result. downwardThe latest update to Nine Inch Nails’ iPhone application has been rejected by the content czars at Apple. Why? Because it contained “obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials”–namely, “The Downward Spiral,” which is one of the songs on a podcast that could be streamed to the application. As you might expect, Nine Inch Nails main man Trent Reznor has some thoughts! More »

Nine Inch Nails‘ iPhone app, in which you can find Trent Reznor fans from around the globe without leaving the comfort of your Wi-Fi connection, is available at the iTunes Store for the low price of zero dollars. Somehow it’s not already the top application, although I guess the pull of FML: The App—the current No. 1—is a bit more universal. [access.nin.com / Previously]

Nine Inch Nails launched a video to promote the launch their sexy new iPhone app. All the Digglets are squealing and Wired is pissing its robot pants—and rightfully so. This thing is sweet! But after watching the eight-minute-long (!) video, we’re still wondering a few things.

Aside from holidays where major news events happen, thus disrupting one’s chance to actually get away from her laptop and have a life, April Fool’s Day is probably the most annoying 24-hour stretch on the professional blogger’s calendar, thanks to everyone on the Internet thinking they’re funny. Despite that not really being true! Trent Reznor announced on Nine Inch Nailsofficial Web site that in honor of Pretty Hate Machine‘s 20th anniversary, he’d be embarking on one last tour around the world that would be “much more raw, spontaneous and less scripted” than last year’s Lights In The Sky excursion—and to get back to his roots, he’d bring Jane’s Addiction, who invited him to be on a little package tour called Lollapalooza back in the day, along for the ride in the United States. It’s all coming full circle! Which may be why Trent will put NIN on break immediately following the tour, because who knows what ghosts of 20 years ago will be summoned.
