Each month, we take a look at our favorite pop stars gracing the glossy covers of fashion, health, music and lifestyle magazines across the world and ask you to choose the best cover!
Now that the sunny season is finally upon us, our favorite pop princesses are gracing the glossy pages with their brightest, most daring looks for summer.
Queen of Pop Madonna and pop princess Katy Perry are teaming up for a provocative, S&M-inspired high fashion look for V. Beyoncé is looking appropriately stoic on her “Diva”-sized cover, while Rihanna goes into seductress mode for her “Rebel” cover — both of which are part of Ebony‘s 4-cover Black Music Month special. Meanwhile, Bey’s sis Solange keeps it cute and colorful on the cover of ASOS. As for Sheezus herself, Lily Allen? She’s the rebel of the bunch (of course!), smashing a mic stand to smithereens for Q.
Check out the upcoming covers below, and then place your vote for your favorite of the month! More »
Did You Hear?
:: Rihanna‘s Instagram account is still missing. I’m not sure why this is news but Billboard went as far as contacting the social media giant for comment. They admit to briefly suspending the account but insist they reactivated it. The rest remains a mystery. [Billboard]
:: This should be taken with a grain of salt (because the original source is a gossip magazine) but Mariah Carey is rumored to be having marital woes with Nick Cannon. Incidentally, they recently celebrated their wedding anniversary. [Pink Is The New Blog]
:: Kylie Minogue is the queen of The Voice. In addition to mentoring contestants on the UK and Australian versions of the show, the Australian pop diva recently appeared on The Voice Italy and performed mega-hit “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”. [Rickey]
:: Our congratulations go out to Enrique Iglesias. The Latin heartthrob just scored his 25th number one hit on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart with “Bailando”. Luis Miguel and Gloria Estefan place second and third with 16 and 16 chart-toppers respectively. [Billboard]

in their collectors’ edition, four-cover Black Music Month special issue. Each superstar gets their own special cover and title. Bey is crowned ‘The Diva’, while Hov is referred to as ‘The Mogul’. Meanwhile, Rih is ‘The Rebel’ and Ye is ‘The Poet’. All very appropriate choices.
“It was an honor to write the four cover stories for EBONY magazine’s Black Music Month special collector’s edition,” said music writer Kevin Powell. “Rarely do you see today’s unstoppable stars like Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye West and Jay Z packaged with legends like Tina Turner, Donna Summer or Tupac Shakur, but we did it because when it comes to Black music, it is important to note the deep connection between the musicians of yesterday and today.” See all four covers after the jump. recently called in for an interview on Australian radio show The Bump
, and the host asked about that now-infamous moment when Rihanna laughed during Grande’s “Problem” performance
at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The debate over whether it was a shocked giggle or shady cackle was the only interesting thing to come out of the bloated three-hour advertisement from the Los Angeles Tourism Board. And now we may have an answer.
When asked about RiRi supposedly laughing at her, Grande said she took no offense. “When I watched it afterwards it looked like she was just shocked because I was doing something different.” What’s more, the two singers held a summit after the show. “Afterwards she was so kind to me, she was like, ‘Lil mama keep doing what you’re doing because it’s working.’ And so I thought it was funny that people tried to make such a commotion out of it when she was just being playful and supportive if anything, so I don’t know. People are always trying to make a big deal out of nothing because they’re bored.” Seeing as how we were mind-numbingly bored throughout the broadcast, this is a very astute analysis of the non-controversy. Welp, either Rihanna
mistakenly shut down her Instagram account during her latest attempt to arouse the world, or the social media company followed through on its threats and deactivated her account because her racy photos
violated their terms and conditions (“You may not post violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic or sexually suggestive photos”). The latter would be a monumentally stupid move for Instagram, which is par for the course for massive social media companies, so we’re going to assume that’s what happened.
Rihanna lit up the Internet recently by posting her topless cover of Lui magazine on her badgalriri account. After Instagram ordered her to remove it, she complied and swiftly mocked their terms by posting photos of the photo, as well as nude illustrations.

Let’s just cut the bullshit and stop tip-toeing around the obvious: Award shows, by nature, are self-congratulatory, three-hour slogs through the banal, and that’s why it’s best to down a bottle while watching (and reporting on) them. Because NAVY OR DIE!!!!!!!!!
and Austin Mahone
thanking God for his super awesome Instagram just aren’t aspects of life most people can sugar coat without wanting to jump into a pit filled with upright bayonets afterwards. Right? Right?
Maybe I’m alone there. Who knows.
iHeartLosAngeles iHeartRadio Music Awards took place last night, and, to be fair, it was the very first time this particular do happened. So we should be forgiving of the fact that the night was a 70% terrible thing to behold. Actually, it was probably 89% terrible, but, again, alcohol cures many award-show ills.
So in the spirit of helping out this budding young televised franchise in its infancy, let’s take a look below at the moments that were good and the moments that were not so good. Consider them like life lessons to grow by. You have to stumble — or open your show with Pitbull — before you can run, no? (Unless, of course, NBC yanked the option for this thing ever happening again. In which case — read no further!) More »
stole the show at last night’s (April 1) iHeartRadio Music Awards. She won the most awards (including artist of the year), caused a stir with her Matrix
-inspired hairstyle and threw legendary shade at Ariana Grande
. Her now iconic reaction
to Miley Cyrus
‘ rubber finger-waving display at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards pales in comparison to the diva’s hysterical laughter during Ari’s awkward performance
The camera cut to RiRi several times during Ariana’s rendition of “Problem” and she literally couldn’t stop laughing at the newcomer’s clumsy dance moves. Rihanna wasn’t the only one clocked for mocking the 20-year-old. Country crooner Blake Shelton‘s unimpressed face quickly became a meme and he, rather amusingly, made the photo his Twitter background. Watch Rih’s reaction after the jump. More »
Friends, here we are again with yet another
awards show on the plate: it’s the inaugural broadcast of the iHeartRadio Music Awards! Yayyyyyyyy!

Crack a bottle (unless you’re underage — in which case, crack a Snapple) and stick around here through the night. The big pop music event kicks off at 8 p.m. on NBC and promises to drag on for three thrilling hours , and we’ll be updating the list of winners in real time. More »
. Remember the good ol’ days when it only took one skilled tunesmith to write a hit single? Yeah — our minds don’t stretch back that far, either. In fact, if you have to travel in time, to “Somebody That I Used To Know” in 2012, to find the last single to top the Billboard Hot 100 with only one writer credited to it. (That would be Mr. Gotye
himself, Wally de Backer.)
These days, it takes a small army to craft what we naive listeners would deem to be the simplest of songs. Remember Flo Rida‘s “Whistle”? You know — the chart-topping oral sex jam disguised as a radio-friendly, sing-song trifle for the whole family to purse their lips and blow to in the car? That one took no less than half-a-dozen writers to put together.
Below, we rounded up another 10 such pop smashes that required a team of musical geniuses — or at least Pitbull — to pen. Some may surprise you and even shatter the illusion of your favorite artists as unique jacks-of-all-trades, able to dash out catchy hits all by their lonesome.
Carry on to find out the wicked truth behind all the glitter, pop fanatics! More »
