Queen Of Folk

The great Selena Gomez drought of 2014 comes to a close today (kind of) with the release of a new music video. (Try not to weep as you celebrate this glorious occasion with multiple views!) The much-missed diva, who recently inked a deal with Interscope Records, teams up with indie singer/songwriter Ben Kweller for “Hold On” — the theme song from Sel’s new movie Rudderless.

Directed by actor William H. Macy (he also helmed the film), the cute and casual clip begins with Ben strumming his guitar in a sunny lounge room while Selena fixes him coffee. The “Slown Down” hitmaker then channels her inner folk chick as she settles down for a sing-a-long, which is interspersed with footage from the movie. It’s great to see Justin Bieber‘s main squeeze looking so happy and relaxed. Watch up top. More »

She stated, ”I saw her when she was eight years old on a cruise ship and she had sung this song, and I literally went up to her and told her and her mom, ‘I don’t know if you plan on doing this, but this is what you need to be doing because you are an amazing singer.’” [ONTD]

[Billboard]

:: Nicole Scherzinger revealed the heartbreaking meaning behind her forthcoming album title, Big Fat Lie. The songstress told The Daily Mail that she struggled with an eating disorder, which partly inspired the project: “This is me finally being revealed. I think we all have our own big fat lies. The lies that we tell ourselves,” she said. “You know, things aren’t always what they seem. I think people will be able to relate to that.”

Selena Gomez Has Allegedly Signed With Interscope Records

Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed by either label, it looks increasingly likely that Selena Gomez will move to Interscope after she fulfills her contract with Hollywood Records (by releasing a greatest hits collection in time for Christmas). The news was announced by Hits Daily Double over the weekend and warmly received by fans on social media.

While Disney did a great job of refining the superstar’s dance-pop sound, the move will allow her to present a more mature image and also give her access to the wealth of collaborators on Interscope’s roster. Kind of like the makeover and opportunities that RCA gave Miley Cyrus. Selena is expected to drop a new single from her greatest hits package imminently. More »

Pop Stars Accept The Ice Bucket Challenge: Watch Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez & Taylor Swift Get Wet

Pop stars are really getting behind the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which raises money for the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease. Participants donate $100 or have a bucket of extremely cold water poured over their head. (To their credit, most celebrities have elected to do both). As a result, social media is buzzing with videos of soaking wet divas and shirtless singers. Bless.

As a part of the challenge you have to nominate three other people to take part. Taylor Swift picked Selena Gomez before undertaking her group-soaking with a bunch of friends and Drake passed the baton to Beyonce, who is yet to participate. (It’s surely only a matter of time). He used the opportunity to show off his rippling six-pack, as did Justin Bieber and Calvin Harris. Watch a selection of the best ice bucket challenges after the jump. More »

Selena Gomez Models Adidas Neo Label’s Fall/Winter Collection: 10 Pics

2014 hasn’t been particularly kind to Selena Gomez. The 22-year-old began the year in rehab before releasing a string of flop movies. She even made the mistake of briefly reuniting with Justin Bieber. Happily, things could finally be turning around for Sel with news that she has a new single and video on the way as well as a greatest hits collection.

While we wait for the Stars Dance diva’s new music to drop, let’s review her flawless modeling skills. Selena stuns in Adidas Neo Label’s fall/winter collection, turning heads in their casual (but still very cute) clothes. She walks around the streets of New York City in the brand’s jeans and hoodies looking like the utterly adorable girl next door. See all the pics up top. More »

Selena Gomez’s Movie ‘Behaving Badly’ Is In Theaters & It Has A 0% Tomato Reading

If you blinked, you probably missed the fact that a Selena Gomez movie called Behaving Badly, which was shot back in 2012, was quietly popped into limited theatrical release this past weekend. (It’s currently playing at the AMC Universal Citywalk in Los Angeles and, well, it’s nowhere to be found in New York.) The Tim Garrick-directed flick is based on Ric Bowde‘s autobiographical 2000 novel While I’m Dead Feed The Dog — the author has branded the film adaptation “a piece of shit white-bread movie,” by the way — and also stars Elisabeth Shue, Nat Wolff, Mary-Louise Parker and Dylan McDermott. Selena Gomez Is Allegedly Dropping A Greatest Hits Album In December

Talk about the gift that keeps on giving! Selena Gomez is apparently dropping a greatest hits album in December — at least according to producer Edgar Cortazar, who worked with the 22-year-old on a Spanish language version of “A Year Without Rain”. This comes after months of speculation that Sel is releasing the compilation as a contractual obligation.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, the prospect of a ‘best of’ collection is actually pretty appealing as long as Selena throws in a couple of new songs. After all, she has already notched up eight platinum singles in her relatively short recording career. The most elegant princess in the world further fueled the rumors by uploading an Instagram video performing 2011 hit  “Who Says”. Watch it after the jump. More »

Joan Rivers Shades Selena Gomez During Major Rant Over Israel Vs. Palestine Conflict: Watch

Stars Dance...And Tussle
We’re just going to set this here and quietly-but-quickly back away: It’s Joan Rivers being asked by TMZ at LAX about the current Israel/Palestine conflict. This alone prompted quite the tirade from Rivers, but TMZ being TMZ, they followed up a series of questions about Joan’s opinion on the launching of rockets and the loss of innocent lives by informing the comedienne about Selena Gomez “tweet[ing] a pro-Gaza” message. (Actually, what she said was, “Please pray for those families and babies today. Please always remember what’s important in life.”)

Joan was not having it and began to hurl insults at the “Come And Get It” singer, including, “Let’s see if she can spell Palestinian!” Watch below. More »
