EDITOR 1: So there's this movie, Garden State? I mean, it's a few years old, but that guy who directed it, he also picked the soundtrack...
It's been an on-again, off-again week for touchy-feely tastemaker Zach Braff: On one hand, his Last Kiss movie pooped out at theaters over the weekend (possibly because it was a little too close to Garden State for some people's tastes). On the other hand, its soundtrack has been in the Top 10 at the WhiTunes store ever since its release, and it's at No. 57 on the Billboard 200.

After Garden State, sensitive sitcom star Zach Braff got it in his head that he was something of a musical tastemaker. To be clear, there's nothing wrong with Braff as an actor (Scrubs = good stuff). Nor do we have anything against the Shins (even though we'd very much like to stop hearing their music in every bar in Brooklyn). What's scary to us is that Braff's yuppie-rock affections are slowly turning the alt-rock realm into one big tasteful dinner party—take, for example, the soundtrack to The Last Kiss, which hit theaters today.
