Depending upon how you look at, Largehearted Boy's round-up of year-end best-of lists is either a public service or a public health hazard: While it provides some insight into what proactive music listeners are listening to these days, many of these tabulations feature more ill-advised choices than the entire two-season run of Flavor Of Love. Some of the more egregious offenders:
Guillemots - Huh?
Silversun Pickups - Really?
Final Fantasy - Final whatnow?
Xiu Xiu - Jiminy Jesus H. Christmas!
And remember: This is just the beginning of what promises to be a whole month of bizarrely unjustified plaudits, contrarian over-reaching, and essays about Joanna Newsom that include words like "uber-ethereal."

Maybe this automatically disqualifies me from Jackin' Pop, but in a fairly weak year for rock albums in general, I'm pretty sure Silversun Pickups will make my Top 10. So sue me. I mean, it's the vintage Smashing Pumpkins sound with Billy Corgan's ego surgically removed: what's not to like?
He Poos Clouds has to be voted as Worst Title Of The Year, at least. And this goes for Ys, too: when did non-glammy feyness become acceptable?

Agreed with dennisobell. Saw Silversun Pickups at Schubas in Chicago...excellent show...record is listenable, and frankly, given the pussy ass stuff that frequently passes for indie "rock" it was good to see a lead singer who got visibly sauced, and a band that enjoys its walls of sound.
Ys will make a lot of year end records lists. And I will still never put that record on again.
Going to have to disagree with xiu xiu and final fantasy. Although they wouldn't make it in my top 10, they're good albums. silversun pickups on the other hand, suuuuuuuuuuck...

what's with all the snark and hate? i don't understand. lists are subjective. people like different things. largehearted boy is one of the most intelligent music/book blogs out there too.
Largeheartedboy is intelligent, but he has NO quality control. From one of the blogs he links to:
