News from Paris concerning our friend and part-time New York resident by way of Georgia Chan "Cat Power" Marshall: She's been tapped to be the new face of Chanel's jewelry. Karl Lagerfeld explains:

"I saw her in New York in front of the Mercer Hotel and she was smoking and I said, 'Only a woman — she — can look glamorous while smoking.'"

We're pretty sure that Chan can pull off the detached, "Maybe I'm looking at the the camera, or maybe I don't wanna" look required of most Chanel-campaign models. But when it comes to smoking cats, we prefer something a bit more literal.
