Ah, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame: Publicly derided for being a bloated boomer-rock trade show, privately idolized for being able to get Brian May and Jimmy Page in the same shrimp-buffet line. The Cleveland Plain Dealer has a round-up of the names going to the ballots for next year's ceremony, which tentatively takes place in January at Jann Wenner and Bono's Tuscany time-share; Van Halen and R.E.M. are among the eligible names, but plenty of other talents were shunted to the side. Anyway, we know you're tool cool for this kind of stuff, but who do you think is being overlooked?
Van Halen, R.E.M. on upcoming ballot for Hall of Fame [Cleveland Plain Dealer]

I'm crossing my fingers for the Dave Clark Five to get in.
It's an absolute crime that Van Halen weren't in there from the beginning.
It's a travesty, a sham, and a mockery.
It's a travishamockery.
name me one Buzzcocks song! thought so!
Am voting for Afrika Bambaataa because they're getting shafted this year, their first year of eligibility; whereas all the others (esp. Cheap Trick) have been shafted for years now.
You shoulda mentioned: The rule is, eligibility starts 25 years after the act's first recording. R.E.M.'s clock starts ticking with Chronic Town, and Bambaataa's with "Planet Rock," both of which date to late '81-early '82, methinks.
That Kraftwerk, Cheap Trick and Buzzcocks have been overlooked thus far despite recording as early as, what? 1975? is pretty sad.
Cheap Trick shall not be considered until each and every member of the extended Ertegun family has been inducted.
Are you sure Kraftwerk is not there already? How can that be?!
I mean, not that I care or anything.
Any Hall of Fame without Ray Stevens is no Hall of Fame for this music fan. How can you claim any kind of credibility?
Pepe: When Fantasia Barrino announced to the world that she was illiterate, I thought it was brave. Still, it didn't make it any less sad, because in the end she still couldn't read.
Kraftwork: German. No chance.
