There's a new album from accordion-wielding pop parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic on the way, and it includes yet another polka medley of the last year's biggest hits (talk about white and nerdy). An apparently fan-made video for "Polkarama"—which manages to mash together Modest Mouse, the Black Eyed Peas, the Pussycat Dolls, and oom-pa-pas—has surfaced, and it has a simple, yet hilarious, conceit. Be sure to watch it the whole way through; the 50 Cent "cameo" made us giggle in a way that we hadn't since we first heard "Eat It."

This is kind of amazing, actually. I was just saying last night that we're about 3 months away from the debut of "NerdyBack."
Seriously, who buys Weird Al's records? I mean, I did when I wanted to have "I Lost On Jeopardy" on tape, but that was like, so long ago. Grow up, everyone.
That's us told.
Honestly. If growing up means no more Weird Al, then maybe I'll have to reconsider.
Oh my God, I can only identify about a third of the songs in the latest Weird Al polka medly. I am totally out of touch!
I wish this is what TRL was everyday. Then, I'd watch it.
I didn't think it was possible to improve on the perfection that was the top-40 of the past year, but Weird Al has gone and done it.
You guys are making it OK to like Weird Al again. I applaud you.
This is definitely NOT "fan-made" - Al puts these current-hits polkas on every release, and has, for the last few albums, put together accompanying videos.
Here's the one from his last CD:

My guess is this new one is one of the videos on the DVD side of the DualDisc release of Al's new record.
Damn, I should be writing for this blog. ;-)
Uh...that is, unless I provide the completely wrong link - in which case, I probably shouldn't boast like that.
Here's the correct link to "Angry White Boy Polka":

Thanks, Teddy -- the MTV/VH1/BET logos that were superimposed over the sampled clips threw us off. Also, casting Fred Durst as a polka frontman has pretty much made my week.
Why not just link to the real White and Nerdy?
I've always enjoyed Weird Al's songs, in particular ones where he parodies a band who take themselves very seriously.
For example, his NIN parody on Running with Scissors about a OCD sufferer called Germs is pure brilliance.
Man, he still sounds just like the lead singer from Goldfinger.
I am also out of touch as that was the first time i'd heard about 2/3 of those songs. however, after seeing this:

I was hoping there would be a little Sean Paul in there.
Was it ever NOT okay to like Wierd Al?
...or Weird Al, even?
I only recognized 1 or 2 of the songs he parodied in Polkarama! I am halfway through my downl...err...legally acquired copy of 'Lynwood' and I am underwhelmed. To be honest, I am disappointed. I love Weird Al. Always have. Growing up and now as an adult. Guess I am not up-enough on current music to get it, but it lacks the fun of Running With Scissors, in my mind.
NerdyBack? Where can i get details?
