Fun.’s “Some Nights” Video: This Is (Civil) War

Fun. goes to war — or at least performs during one — in their cinematic video for “Some Nights”, the group’s second single and the title track from their sophomore album. The clip, directed by Anthony Mandler, is set during the Civil War, and starts with a young couple’s intimate moment interrupted by gun shots. Gory fighting on the battlefield ensues, and if you were hoping this clip would live up to the band’s name, it doesn’t. It is, however, an extremely visceral mini-movie about the tragedies of war, no matter what century it takes place.

If you’re feeling a bit bummed out after watching this vid and are looking for a pick-me-up, how about rewatching the trio’s performance of their #1 single “We Are Young” at the MTV Movie Awards?
