Zedd joins forces with Maren Morris and production duo Grey on “The Middle.” Released today (January 23), it is an infectious bop about the importance of compromise in a relationship and will serve as the third single from his forthcoming LP. Blending elements of country and EDM, the track is defined by Maren’s impassioned vocals as she pleads with a lover for a level-headed discussion after a frenzied fight.

“The cabinets are bare, and I’m unaware of just how we got into this mess. Got so aggressive, I know we meant all good intentions,” she laments over a buoyant production. Everything picks up as she moves into the chorus to make her final plea. “Baby why don’t you meet me in the middle? I’m losing my mind just a little, so why don’t you just meet me in the middle,” she requests.

“We worked really hard on this record to get it just right and it feels great to be able to finally share it with everyone,” Zedd said of the song in the press release. He also opened up about the opportunity to work with Maren and reuniting with Grey. “It was super fun working with Maren because she is clearly an amazing singer and very talented musician. And, I always love working with Grey because we push ourselves to make the best music possible and the end result is incredible.”

Zedd and his collaborators teamed up with Target’s #MoreMusic campaign to perform the single at the Grammys this Sunday (January 28). The brand will also utilize the track as the soundtrack to their spring style marketing campaign, which will guarantee it gets massive exposure. With any luck, Zedd will have another “Stay”-sized hit on his hands. His Alessia Cara collaboration went top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a serious contender for the song of the summer last year.

He followed up the hit with a Liam Payne collaboration on “Get Low.” The tropical-tinged bop hit the lower rungs of the charts but failed to make as much of an impression. Thankfully, Zedd’s latest seems destined for big things. Give the track a spin below!
