Well, the press-release happy “sex hurts kids!!” advocacy group the Parents Television Council has registered its wholly predicable outrage about Britney Spears’ not-all-that-punny new single “If You Seek Amy,” with its president even going so far as to invoke the Yankees: “This may sound Yogi Berra-ish, but Britney’s song is a double-entendre with only one meaning.” Well. Man, get a suicide reference in there and the culture wars will rage like the ’80s all over again! Can you guys imagine the uproar that will occur when it turns out that the video turns out to be a touching story about a missing child named “Amy,” complete with “Runaway Train”-style intercuts of youth who are missing today?
