My Favorite were the brightest lights among Long Island’s turn of the century new-wave order, and their gloomy debut album, 1999’s Love At Absolute Zero, was in heavy rotation during one of your Idolators’ extended suburban sojourns. Their silicon-teen anthems, full of Morrissey and Pretty in Pink name-checks, matched up beat-for-heartbeat with the Hanna Barbera-esque parade of strip malls that whizzed by the morning train bound for that great escape known as “the city.”
