Who’s Heckling During Barbra’s Bush-Bashing Bits?

Last week, we noted that Barbra Streisand’s presidential mockery during a show in Philadelphia had garnered a bit of flak from the crowd. This morning, more angry audience-member news came from the opening show of her New York run:

After serenading fans with some of her greatest hits, Streisand mocked President Bush. A few dozen people began to heckle her with one man shouting, “What is this, a fund-raiser?” An incensed Streisand shot back, “Why don’t you shut the f- – – up. If you can’t take a joke, why don’t you leave and get your money back.” The man got up and left.

Sure, this colorful account is from the New York Post, but it still seems odd to us–mainly because tickets for Babs’ shows are really pricey, with the best seats in the house costing $754.50. So what’s the deal here? Are these people planted by Streisand, so reviewers have a framing device? Or does Jack Abramoff still have enough ticketing connections to offer up prime seats to GOP operatives?
