“You’re Gonna Watch Me” came out on Pere Ubu’s label, Hearthan Records, in 1979; it’s a minute and change of Peter Laughner’s ex-wife, Charlotte Pressler, rambling about watching friends while constructing verbal puzzles like “I make my mouth smile.” Guitars chime and a bassline loops behind her, and the song ends just in time for us to want to listen to it all over again.
