There’s something about this Variety item that gives us the heebie-jeebies:

The Producers Guild, the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Conde Nast Media Group are teaming to produce “Movies Rock,” a film-and-music event that will be staged at the Kodak Theater on Dec. 2. Special will eventually air on CBS, where Conde Nast’s “Fashion Rocks” has aired for the past three seasons and will air again in September…

At least 14 Conde Nast publications also will include a “Movies Rock” supplement in December. Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter will serve as editorial director of the special issue, and Mitch Glazer will serve as editor in chief.

Our questions (and fears) are plentiful: Does a “film-and-music event” consist of three hours of “classic” movie clips and a few performances by Sting and/or Irene Cara? Will it be as snoozy and unadventurous as the last half-dozen or so Vanity Fair music issues? And why do aging media overlords still insist upon using the word “rock” as a verb?
