Oh, hi. So, VH1 is holding an awards show in approximately 10 hours for the not-at-all-fading art of hip-hop, and because Maura is a cruel mistress an excellent boss, she’s drafted me to live-blog them for Idolator’s enjoyment. Many fellow bloggers and “cultural commentators” who witnessed the taping live (or otherwise) have already weighed in on the show’s various highlights and scandals, but I have mostly avoided reading any spoilers, and much like the rest of America, I will be experiencing tonight for the first time with my lazy ass on my ratty couch. (Because, as with this evening’s honorees, we keep it real.) So starting tonight at 10 p.m. ET, join me, my roommate, our dog, possible peanut gallery commentary from Maura (provided she’s not obsessing over some baseball game), a bunch of rappers both young and old, and Eddie Trunk* for several hours of awards that may be just as pointless as a VMA but that will probably come with way better/less batshit performances.
