Frankie Goes To Hollywood Drops The Bomb On The (Old) Axis Of Evil

After seeing the terrible (but literally face-meltingly graphic) 1983 TV drama The Day After, where Jason Robards and a bunch of valiant Kansans struggle to go on after World War III until they all finally drop dead of radiation poisoning in the most agonizing ways possible, I was afflicted for years with nightmares of dying in an atomic explosion. (What in the hell was a 5-year-old doing watching melodramatic cold war telemovies anyway?) But if my family had been able to afford basic cable, rather than allowing me to stay up past my bedtime to watch the destruction of the free world on network TV, I wonder if Frankie Goes To Hollywood would have alleviated my kindergarten fears of unending nuclear winter with their big-time-fun approach to the end of the world. More relevant than ever, so are you listening Bearforce 1?
