If it finally feels like fall where you are–look, I’ll take the high 60s over close to 90 and muggy as “fall”–I suggest taking a listen to the stately title track from John Cale’s Paris 1919, long recognized by folks fond of words like “autumnal” as one of the go-to records for when the leaves get brittle and there’s a chill in the air. You should also feel free to check out this somnambulent ’72 duo take on “Waiting For The Man” by Cale and Lou Reed. From the YouTube comments: “I’ve only ever heard the Vanessa Paradis version. This is so much more different, I LOVE IT!” Hey, that’s okay, for years I only knew the Bros version of “Heroin.”
