So Two Warrant Fans And A Cat Walk Into A Garage…

I was going to post the video for Warrant’s “Down Boys” in celebration of Jani Lane’s announcement that he’s trying to reconcile with the band, but the fun-haters at Sony BMG decided to make the video unembeddable, so I had to look for other versions of the clip. Which led me to the above bit of YouTubage, featuring two dudes from 1989 as they mime the track–complete with coordinated headbanging!–in front of a VHS camera set up in a suburban garage located in a neighborhood that’s either the one where I grew up or the one where Jess grew up (we actually had a prolonged IM argument over this point). And be sure to wait until 2:11 for the run-in by the cat, who is almost as bewildered by this prototype of user-generated content as I am. Yes, it’s much more entertaining than the Spice Girls video, but still–I am so happy that I destroyed that videotape of me singing Debbie Gibson’s “Foolish Beat” at Adventureland back in the day.
