Karlheinz Stockhausen passed away in Kuerten, Germany, on Wednesday. The prolific composer wrote more than 300 pieces, and his groundbreaking work in electronic music influenced musicians in nearly every genre. His seven-part opera cycle Licht, which took him 25 years to complete, will be performed for the first time next year. Stockhausen was 79. [BBC]
