Morrissey Quitting Music Again (Except Not Really)

In what can only be seen as a stunning display of click hunger, Filter‘s site offered up a “Morrissey Exclusive” with the salacious subheading “Calling It Quits?” Given that his newest album has garnered some effusive praise around these parts, that’s some pretty big news.

So, of course, it’s not really true. Here is the quote in question:

How many more years do you want to continue making music?

Morrissey: “I don’t want to go on much longer, really. I think that would suggest a lack of imagination. A certain lack of dignity also. There has to reach a point where you’ve said enough, I think.”

Wow. Sounds like a man who is Calling It Quits, right? Why, using this method of journalism we can make up all sorts of funny headlines where the answer is “no.”

Morrissey Exclusive: He Killed A Man? Morrissey Exclusive: Eating Babies For Dinner? Morrissey Exclusive: Not My Real Hair?

See how simple that is?

The gist of this story? “Never mind. False alarm. Nothing to see here. Thanks for the click, though. Don’t forget to visit our advertisers!”
