You Should Have Appreciated My Efforts To Ruin Punk Rock, You Ungrateful Turds!

One of the pirates who runs the (admittedly essential) leak blog Bolachas Grátis called it quits yesterday, and his middle-fingers-ablaze response as he angrily stomped from the office was actually one of the best statements on the Internet “economy” ever.

Dear bolachas users, this was the last one, I thank U for the great support and comments I recieved, most , what is the matter with the link: special the comments on the things as> link is not working, re-up pls, what’s the matter with the link etc, etc

As you see I’m a bit disappointed but I hope U have a nice life and enjoy your music!!

1. The entire thing has the resigned air of “Why did I even bother?” Which, when it comes down to it… why did he even bother? I mean what do you get from uploading Crystal Castles records all day and making sure that indie labels can’t do their job? Are you gonna get laid? Probably not. Hit counts? Can you turn hit counts into beer? Well, that brings us to point two.

2. After his rant, the “boss” chimed in:

as you probably noticed, Jotien doesn’t run the blog alone. He said he’s leaving but we have 7 posters left: me, flip (bolachisgratis) J, postpunklover, ravinglunatic, masterbates and radioshoes. Sure, he was a big part of this community, and will be missed, but since there are lots of comments begging him to come back, maybe he’ll reconsider. So, remember feedback is always appreciated, specially if you liked whatever we post.

also, expect some big changes in the near future that will be announced sometime soon. One of them deals with album reviews and bands looking for promotion – but more on that later.

So this guy feels that, somehow, he needs to be paid for their vanity project. So the site’s going to turn into a promotion tool? For money? Good luck working in the music industry when every single indie label in America wishes you would crawl into a black hole of server space.

3. Dude is right. Internet users are selfish. Horribly selfish. Like Scarlett O’Hara meets a caffeinated five-year-old selfish. Dude upped all these albums, we downloaded them, and we never said thank you. We just went “OMG LINK IS DOWN ASHHOLE1.” Remember when Google went down for 20 minutes last week and everyone pissed their pants? That’s this dude’s life all day.

You know what, I’m gonna take this time out to thank Bolachas Grátis. Thank you, Bolachas Grátis. I like your album uploads. I download them all day. Now up that Swan Lake album already.
