Keri Hilson’s Album To Finally See The Light Of Day

Do you know how long it’s been since we first wrote about Keri Hilson‘s A Perfect World, which is finally coming out (maybe) on March 24? Almost 18 months. In that time, a lot of stuff has happened! But for Hilson, perhaps the most important thing that happened was the success of her single “Turnin’ Me On,” which has an assist from Lil Wayne and which sold 58,000 e-singles this week (374,000 to date).

“Turnin’ Me On” is a pretty OK song, one that jumped out at me the first time I heard it on the radio (at a hair salon); its sales aren’t exactly setting the world on fire, but I’m going to guess that Hilson’s label just wanted the record to get out there, what with it festering for so long. Whether or not it’ll sell anything… its preorders on Amazon have its overall sales rank in the mid-500s, right around where albums of the “customers also bought” variety by the likes of J. Holliday and Bobby Valentino lie. But Amazon’s charts tend to skew away from commercial R & B, and I think the presence of Ne-Yo, TImbaland, and T-Pain should at least raise the interest in this album, if not its overall numbers.
