R. Kelly Wants YOUUUUUUUU

In addition to having his cartoon-themed bar hocked on Craigslist, R. Kelly picked this week to release a new single, the banger-in-training-pants “Supaman High.”

It’s monotonously manipulated all the way through to next week, I guess because it’s one of those songs that is designed to be massive when it bounces off the walls that surround a club where lots of women in slinky outfits and men in suits bump around in the dark and stiffly emanate “sexy” signals in the hopes of making the $13 cocktails they’ve been downing all evening somewhat worth it. But listening to it in the relatively harsher light of the late afternoon, I am reminded of Kells’ ability to actually, y’know, imbue a track with melody. (Exhibit A.) Perhaps it will grow on me through repeated casual listens as I walk down the street, but I doubt it.
