Perhaps realizing that “Twilight Really Popular With Kids Who Have Enough Spare Time To Engage In Phone-In Voting Campaigns” would be something of a boring takeaway from last night’s MTV Movie Awards, the bigwigs at Viacom decided to engage in some shenanigans involving Eminem, who performed two tracks from Relapse on the show, and Sasha Baron Cohen’s “flamboyant” alter-alter ego Brüno. Baron Cohen, wearing a pantsless getup that would make Lady GaGa proud, descended from the rafters of the Gibson Amphitheatre a la Fartman at the VMAs–only thanks to an “accident,” his path to the stage was diverted, and he wound up giving Eminem a piece of his, uh, mind. Em’s reaction, complete with storm-out, was convincing enough to make people wonder whether or not the whole thing was a work, a shoot, or a little bit of both. (It was a demanding aerial stunt on MTV, which means that the whole thing was probably planned within an inch of its life, but I wonder if Eminem thought that Baron Cohen’s bits would at least be a little more covered?) Clip after the jump. Apologies for the MTV embed and its ad; if you want to relive the moment without a ton of pre-roll, feel free to enjoy the animated .jpg below. Sure, you don’t get to hear a snipped of “Sadeness Pt. 1” before the big reveal, but you also avoid the One wonders how Luke Perry would have dealt with a similar indignity.2009 MTV Movie Awards: Bruno Presents Best Male Performance [MTV]
