There might be a few less familiar sex kittens in the Pussycat Dolls the next time they slink onto stage. Last month, while rumors flew around like fur after a catfight that the Dolls were breaking up, group member Melody Thornton told us, “We need a break… It’s as simple as that. There’s nothing else behind it. Until the big man says I got a song and it’s time to work again, we’re on a break.”

PCD founder/head honcho Robin Antin also released a statement to Hollyscoop denying a split, but noted that when the girl group returns, there will be “new music, new concepts, new faces and more hit songs!”

Catch what Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt has to say about the “new faces” bit after the jump.

“The Pussycat Dolls have been on a hiatus for a while now. I really don’t know what’s to come, I can’t even comment on it because I’m not the driving force behind it,” Wyatt tells Digital Spy.

Kimberly continues: “Robin Antin is the creator and there’s a lot of chefs in the kitchen when it comes to the Pussycat Dolls. They’re making their choices wisely… No matter what happens, I’ll always be involved with the Pussycat Dolls even if it’s helping with choreography or creative direction.”

Spoken like a cat who wants to ensure she maintains all nine lives. Of course, main singer Nicole Scherzinger will still be rearing her head—even if it’s in the most unlikely of places.

In light of this latest news, let’s have a fond look back at PCD’s happier days of winter 2005—when they were still a scantily-clad six-piece singing the now-ironically-titled “Stickwitu”:
