Miley Cyrus’ Grammy Nomination Yanked, Karen O Added To Ballot

Awwww. As much we’d hoped Miley Cyrus would have a chance to take the Grammy stage for an acceptance speech hailing her savior (“God! Hellooo!”), it looks like we’ll have to wait. Miley’s “The Climb,” originally nominated for Best Song Written For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, has been disqualified by Grammy organizers. Taking its place on the Grammy ballot (evidently) will be Karen O and the Kids’ “All Is Love” from Where The Wild Things Are. A sad day for tweens, and a happy day for rumpus-makers.

In an unexpected twist, one of the announced Grammy candidates for Best Song written for a Soundtrack has been disqualified after the fact (Miley Cyris [sic] in fact). The nomination then goes to the song with the next-highest initial vote count, which is Karen O and the Kids’ “All is Love”.

The Grammys website is already updated with “All Is Love” among the other nominees, with Miley nowhere to be seen. New York‘s Vulture blog suspects (and we concur) that the Recording Academy probably discovered “The Climb” wasn’t originally written for The Hannah Montana Movie, though we’re not exactly sure why they didn’t do all the necessary research before dashing the poor kid’s hopes. Personally, we were originally miffed the Yeah Yeah Yeahs weren’t nominated for Best Rock Band at the People’s Choice Awards, but this more than makes up for that slight!

Sadly, Miley’s Twitter is still out of commission, so there won’t be any revealing tweets today about this announcement. But hey, who wants a Grammy anyway? Edgy people don’t care about awards.
