Rivers Cuomo Out Of Hospital, Already Back To Riding Buses

Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo is on the mend. The frontman has recovered enough from the injuries he sustained in that awful bus crash last Sunday to leave the hospital and return home. Cuomo, who suffered three cracked ribs, a punctured lung and a cut to the spleen, is coming back to Los Angeles, along with the rest of his band, perhaps the only way a resilient rock star should: via a tour bus (doctors are prohibiting him from flying yet).

The band’s webmaster Karl Koch assures fans not to worry about this bus trip:

“I’ll be riding with him, making sure hes ok, and we’ll have 2 drivers trading off driving and sleeping, so we dont have to stop! Were taking a warmer southerly route to avoid bad weather, and rivers will be using a cozy lower bunk for sleeping – none of that back lounge bedroom stuff for him! It will be cool – weve got seasons 1 and 2 of “Mad Men” to watch, some books to read, a freezer full of organic entrees, and the bus is wired for internet, so work can continue uninterrupted. The only thing were missing is Burt Reynolds in a 1978 Pontiac Trans-Am to run point for us!”

Nothing cheers people up like watching two seasons straight of one of the most depressing shows on television, right?

Although the band’s January Raditude tour dates are still listed on the band’s site, Koch explains that “while nothing has been made official yet, it looks like most of the January weezer shows will also have to be rescheduled to give Rivers the full time the docs say he shouldn’t be jumping around.” The band’s co-headlining Bamboozle gig looks safe for now, at least. Isn’t it nice to know Rivers is recovering? Makes us feel warm and cozy.
