Grammy Gives Power To The People With Bon Jovi

According to this press release that landed in our in-box during the early a.m. hours, Bon Jovi’s performance at the the 2010 Grammy telecast on January 31 will mark the Jersey band’s first-ever time rocking out on the awards show. Crikey! How is that even possible?

And talk about trial by fire—Jon, Richie and, uh,  those other two guys don’t even get to choose which song they want to perform by themselves. No, no, Grammy producers are leaving that up to the public. How very People’s Choice Awards!

Actually, like the PCAs, Grammy has taken the liberty of whittling down the list of BJ options to six songs (which you can see and vote on at the official Grammy site). So it’s not like we can throw a curveball and campaign to get the band to perform one of Jon Bon Jovi’s cheesy 1990 Young Guns solo tunes, like “Miracle” or “Blaze Of Glory.”

Meanwhile, “We Weren’t Born To Follow”—which the guys are nominated for in the Best Performance By A Pop Duo Or Group category—isn’t even one of the choices.

You know, Green Day doesn’t have to put up with this crap.
