Vampire Weekend Control The Chart, But Susan Boyle Has Oprah On Her Side
After debuting at #1 last week and knocking Susan Boyle off the throne, Ke$ha’s Animal proved to have more bark than bite. Vampire Weekend’s second LP Contra has now taken the reigns of the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, thereby bumping Ke$ha down to #3.
At least she knows she can always seek comfort from Courtney Love.
Vampire Weekend had the advantage of having the only majorly-anticipated release last week. Well, okay, there was also Omarion’s Ollusion, but the anticipation for that one seemed to be at a minimum—it debuted at #19. Vampire Weekend’s Contra sold about 124,000 copies, reports Billboard.
And despite the fact that she was completely snubbed by this year’s Brit Awards nominations, there might be some good news on the horizon for sultry Scottish export Susan Boyle. Billboard notes that after her appearance on yesterday’s episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, she just might return to the top of the chart. If so, it would mark her seventh non-consecutive week at #1.
That would probably at least make the woman who told Oprah in the clip above that Boyle’s music makes her heart beat faster happy. Let’s just hope it doesn’t send her into cardiac arrest.
