Solange Knowles And Of Montreal Cover Michael Jackson

Solange is making a guest appearance on Of Montreal’s next album, and the two acts evidently had enough fun in the studio that they’re now exploring how it feels to share the stage (and a live audience). But instead of performing their as-yet-unrevealed original track at Kevin Barnes & Co.’s gig at the Highline Ballroom in NYC, they treated us to a rambunctious cover of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.” Catch Solange and and Kevin’s joyful duet after the jump, along with another MJ-inspired clip to surface this week (and no, it doesn’t have any dancing prisoners in it):

Solange may not have her big sister’s vocal chops or fame, but she clearly knows how to take charge of a stage. Work it, girl!

Knowles wasn’t the only surprise guest of the night—Oscar winner Susan Sarandon stopped by with her whip. We already knew she had a sense of humor, we just never knew she was into indie rock. (Maybe it’s a good place to pick up younger dudes now that she’s back on the market?) Too bad she didn’t get to bust out her pipes onstage, too—it’s been quite a few years since The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but we’re betting Susan can still carry a tune.

This isn’t the only new Michael Jackson-related vid to hit the web in the last day or two. Here’s a preview of the “Earth Song” short film that will be presented at this Sunday’s Grammy Awards. You may recognize the clip from This Is It, but this time the short will be presented in its entirety—and in 3D! Take that, Avatar!
