It’s now been two years since Grammy winner Adele broke out with her heartfelt throwback hit “Chasing Pavements,” and Spinner notes that she’s been in the studio with producers Rick Rubin and Paul Epworth working on the follow-up to 19. Back in December Ryan Tedder mentioned to Idolator that he was also writing songs for the 21-year-old English singer. So can we expect Adele’s new album to sound like Dixie Chicks singing “Halo,” with just a bit more blue-eyed soul?

“I’ve been working with Adele, just writing, not production,” Epworth said to BBC 6 Music, as quoted by Spinner. “Rick Rubin’s going to be producing her next record.”

Most recently, Rubin twiddled the knobs for albums by The Avett Brothers, Gossip and Brandi Carlile.

Additionally, Ryan Tedder told us in December, “I’m working with Adele right now, who’s inspiring me like crazy. I hadn’t written a song in about a month, literally, until yesterday.”

Meanwhile, Mark Ronson, who served as one of the producers on Adele’s debut album, has apparently leaving behind his retro leanings to work with artists like Miike Snow and Scissor Sisters.
