No ABBA Reunion For Next Week’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Ceremony

With the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame set to thank ABBA for the music on Monday during the 2010 induction ceremony at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria, fans of the legendary pop group had been holding out for a possible reunion of all four members. Alas, only one half of the Swedish quartet will be jetting across the Atlantic for the event.

Benny Andersson and ex-wife/ABBA member Anna-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad are set to be present and accounted for at the Hall Of Fame’s 25th annual induction ceremony. The group initially split up in 1983.

“I may play something on the piano, with someone else singing,” Andersson told USA Today. Unfortunately, that someone else won’t be Lyngstad. “I don’t think she wants to. It’s been so long.” (Strangely, Billboard reports that the one doing the crooning will be—mamma mia!—Faith Hill, who is set to sing a few of the band’s old tunes as a tribute.)

As for the other two members of ABBA, Benny told USA Today that Bjorn Ulvaeus won’t be attending because of “a big family thing,” and Agnetha Faltskog simply “doesn’t like to fly.” (Sheesh. That’s why the good lord invented Xanax and vodka, Agnetha!)

Sigh. At any rate, here’s what we’ll be missing out on, folks:
