T.I. Gives His First Post-Prison Interview, Reveals Basically Nothing

T.I. has given his first post-prison interview, and it wasn’t with Barbara Walters or Diane Sawyer or Larry King—it was with you. (Sorta.) The newly freed rapper uploaded a one-sided minute and a half interview onto his YouTube page, answering only a smidgen of the actual questions we have for him. He barely alludes to his jail sentence and comments briefly on his upcoming album, but then, how much can you really go into in 90 seconds? Watch the rapper speak below.

“I didn’t write that much,” says a (more than usual) downbeat T.I. “I didn’t get a lot of time to. There was a lot of… activity… around me, so, I wasn’t really motivated to create.”

Yikes—that dramatic pause before and after the word “activity” is both mysterious and horrifying. You know he must have went through some stuff in jail he really does not want to elaborate. At least not unless it’s in one of his tracks on his forthcoming album, due this August. And what can we expect from the new record?

Paper Trails was more about thoughts and this [seventh studio album] is more about feelings,” he explains. “This is significantly more aggressive, at least in this period of the production.” It’s no wonder spending a year behind bars would make one more aggressive. Then again, T.I. was never much of a ball of sunshine, was he?
