This isn’t a great way to convince fans that you’re ready to make a comeback—Whitney Houston has canceled the first European dates of her Nothing But Love tour. The singer was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection in her nose and throat, leading her team to reschedule her Paris, Manchester and Glasgow shows to a later date. We’re not sure what’s worse—disappointing fans by canceling dates right off the bat, or showing up and sounding, well, like this.

Maybe Whitney should have booked Lin Yu Chun to perform in her place? The young Taiwanese boy belted out Whitney’s classic “I Will Always Love You” on Super Star Avenue (Taiwan’s answer to American Idol), and the inspirational TV clip is already going viral. Catch the vid below, and sulk that we haven’t had a performance anywhere near as captivating as Lin Yu Chun’s on this season of Idol.

(Starts at 1:10.)

The dowdy, slightly oddball appearance, the shockingly impressive voice, the instant internet fame via a foreign reality talent competition…. hmm, where, oh, where have we seen this before? Looks like we found 2010’s answer to the Susan Boyle phenomenon! So look out for Lin Yu Chun’s debut album I Will Always Love You, which is already expected to move twelve trillion units in its first week of release.
